  1. I have made up a few cases. I'm not a fan of off the shelf patterns so I came up with my own design. This one will fit most phones. I went to my local AT&T store where I have some friend and got some of there dummy display phones. Heres what I came up with. The cutouts on the sides and bottom are fuctional to pull out, and push the phone in. KK
  2. Yes Johanna. Lucky for for friends indeed. I was wodering if it would be possible to pin this one? I not only want this to be a fund-raiser for LW but also a means to get new members registered. So please If you know anyone or of any other communities please spresd the word. Lets see how many of those guests we can bring into the members side. Also, If you could please include your screen name in the comments section of your paypal entry. Thanks for all of the positive response! Lest see how far we can take this thing! KK
  3. Well, here I go Johanna. Due to the fact that I am not a huge fan of recieving hand outs and all you crazy people seem to have this facsination (almost an obsession) with helping each other out, i would like to announce an event that will hopefully help leatherworker.net, myself, expenses for my dad, and one lucky winner. Whats the prize you ask? This is where it gets fun. I have been asked many times how I do this, or how'd I do that. Some elements of what I do I have shared and other parts I have withheld as my personal trade secret. Now i would like to offer up everything I know about making one of my wallets. Everything. This will be a raffle style event. The prize being a completly one-off custom piece to the winner. Also included will be a step by step detailed tutorial of the making of your wallet. Everything from what kind of leather I use for each part of the piece, dimensions, design transfer, suppliers, thread size, needle size etc. Everything. I will also offer up my personal cell number (once I get it turned back on) so you can call with questions. Now, how's this gonna work? The cost to enter is $20. $10 will go to Kevin King Leather and $10 will go Leatherworker.net. You can enter as many times as you wish with as much as you wish. For example: If you send $40 you will be entered twice, If you send $100 you will be entered 5 times and those of you that were generous enough to help out previously will automatically be entered. This event starts now and the deadline for entries is November 18th with the winner to be announced on November 20th, 9pm CST. So...Who's interested? You can send your paypal entries to my new e-mail address at: kkingleather(at)gmail(dot)com
  4. Thanks for all the nice comments guys and gals. I made this one just to try to get back in the swing of things. Its listed on ebay if you all know anyone looking for a cool wallet at a decent price. Actually, there is no shifting of the liner. Its just glued in. I am still using my juki 1541
  5. Well guys, thought i'd get my feet wet again. Its been a while since i've posted anything. Figured I'd start with something simple. Elephant skin, cayman alligator tail racing stripe, skulls & roses lining.
  6. Thank you guys for your nice words. Well, Just got back from the Dr. apt. in St. Louis last night and it is confirmed. My dad has ALS.
  7. Hey all! Long time no talk! I just wanted to drop you all a line and let everyone know I am still here and still trying to work some crap out. Seems like no matter how bad you think things can be, there is always the possibility of worse things that could happen. For example: I thought I was in a bad situation a while back with my wife. Well, that has taken a back seat to the fact that my dad has recently been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gerhigs disease). If you dont know what that is, it is a disease with no cure and an almost 100% falality rate within 2 years. We have a second opinion apt. scheduled for Sept. 4 at Washington University in St. Louis. I do want everyone that has PM'd me with all the nice messages that I really do appreciate the thoughts very much. Regarding all you crazy people that have sent monitary support, I thank you very much also and I absolutely intend on holding up my end of the deal with the custom wallet give-away. Johanna, thank you for providing this site, for if it did not exist, I would not have such an amazing group of generous and supportive friends. I plan on paying everything forward in the future and you can bank on the fact that I will do everything I can to help insure a little bit of the future of Leatherworker.net Thats it for now. Again, Thank you all very much. KK
  8. Dang! Thanks man! The funny thing is, I dont feel like I am that person at all. I am just very patient with my machine and think things though before I cut any leather. And Matt, thank you as well, I charge enough to make money but it is still a fraction of what some of the other more well known guys are getting for similar pieces. Thank you all for the compliments! I truly do appreciate everything. KK
  9. Thank you all very much! I wouldnt call myself a master with a machine. Just patient. I get my frog skins from Van Amburg.
  10. The seat is frogskin inlayed into suede for the eyes, inlayed into black cowhide, overlayed on grey cowhide, then all inlayed into black cowhide. The matching wallet is made from all the same materials as the seat.
  11. This is the first seat I ever made and all I did on this one was oil it up with neatsfoot oil. Most of the color came from a full day in the Arizona sun. KK
  12. I use a Juki 1541. I use Schmetz size 16 DP (diamond point) for almost everything I sew. Good luck with your juki, I know I love mine. KK
  13. You've got some skills brutha! Very nice. KK
  14. Thanks guys. I like red and black too. I must admit though, I am ready to something a different color. KK
  15. Thanks! The red (rojo) is frog (rana) skin. The frogskin is very tough, haven't had any problems so far. I did have an issue with some carp skin- it faded in sunlight. I don't use that stuff anymore. I buy the skulls from a place in Cali, but a lot of places sell them. They originally have bones on them, but i cut the bones off and polish. Thanks Freak! Where is more of your stuff? KK
  16. Okay. I still have this machine. I got a chance to try it out last week and have a couple of issues. I am not very good a working on machines so heres the deal. There is nothing broken on the machine, everything works and turns like its supposed to but when trying to sew a test piece, it hangs up at about the 4th stitch and the bobbin thread is all bunched up. I will sell this machine, motor, and table for $150. I am in Joplin, MO and would prefer local pickup as shipping will probably cost an arm and a leg. I think the machine is out of time but am not sure. $150 is an awesome price for someone that can work on these things. Please feel free to ask any questions. KK
  17. I've been know to do a little woodgrain stuff now an then. This is from a while back. This was a cool little afternoon project. My sisters friends were calling her pegleg because of her walking cast so i decided to help the nickname stick. KK
  18. Your welcome Tina. I'm glad you like it. I was thinking gargoyle, but bat works too. Elephant skin, cowihide overlay, frogskin inlay. KK
  19. Thank you all very much! You are all too kind. This is one of my favs so far. Na. Just a wallet. Thanks guys. No, this one went to a gentleman in Atlanta. He wanted somthing old school, so I thought some von dutch style pinstriping and my skull would work. KK
