You can get pads of 8 1/2 X 11 and sometimes 11 X 17 of 100% rag vellum at most office supply stores. Look in the drafting sections (use this regularly). Hobby lobby and Michaels usually carries it too. Jim

I truly love your work. I visited your site and cannot compliment you enough. I like the cuffs too, especially the tribal design. Could you give a quick guide as to how you colored it or shouldn't I ask. The shading is awesome. Keep on smilin Jim

Put em to use Bill. 79 cents from Hobby Lobby and a 1/4 inch drill bit and a 3/8 inch bit in a drill press. Works wonders. My motto is simple solutions from a simple mind. Actually my first was modifying a hand sewing tool to accept an old Dremel tool chuck so I could use smaller needles for lighter leathers and cloths. Works okay too. Guess I've just got too much time on my hands while at home. LOL Keep on smilin Jim

I've bought Tandy awls and Osbourn awls and didn't like the feel of either. Blades are not interchanceable between the two either. So like my daddy taught me, if you can't find it , make it. I bought some pin vise heads on the internet. They come with 3 different size collets so I can change blades from just about any source. I made two different awls. The first uses a piece of Carribou(?) antler, for when I need to apply a lot of pressure with larger needles. The second is holding the smaller osbourn needle and fits my palm a little better. In the last pic I have a regular sewing machine needle, for leather, so I don't have to use the larger needles that come with most hand sewing tools. I've got some Whitetail deer antlers that I'm going to make a handle from that will probably replace the large Carribou handle. In the end I guess it's just me. I like to tinker with things. LOL

Sorry Mathew, been in Auburn. The address was in an older Tandy Catalog and I haven't found it yet. As soon as I do I will post it for you. Not in the latest catalog Jim

Hi folks, where can I get an internert, DVD, VHS or what class on doing feathers. Wife and daughter like what they've seen and now I need to do some. Stuck my foot in my mouth when I said 'Yeah, I think I can do that.' Now I've got to produce, but have no clue. Keep on smilin Jim

Matt, How far from Hunstville are you. There's an affiliate store there. Or contact me. I'm near the Montgomery Tandy store all the time. Matter of fact I'll be there this week. Or call Nick at the Montgomery store, he's great to work with. Jim

Got a request from a trucker, so this is the first one I did. I didn't like the color but its what he wanted and he was pleased. All that matters I guess. Jim

Thanks for the input guys. All help and suggestions are appreciated. The springclips I've been looking at are actually from Tandy. There is an offset at the bottom of the clip to prevent it from sliding up the belt without pulling out from the side. I've made some calculator/pocket computer cases and tool cases that use them and they seem to work well. Takes a little effort to remove them. Just asking for guidance from the more experienced. Again thanks Jim

Bring it on Johanna, anything you print I copy. And again thanks for all the help and info. Bill, thanks to you too. But a couple more questions if you have the time. Do you cut straps for a thumb break with the holster or as seperate pieces. Do you rivet snaps to the holster and how do you protect the inside. I've seen some Galco holsters that have snap backs recessed into the leather with a covering to protect the gun. Your opinion on spring belt clips. Got a couple of folks that want spring clips instead of belt loops. Safe enough or too easy to lose the holster. These folks won't be on horses. We're southern folk not western. Want to carry a sidearm with them when they are hunting. Spring clip makes it easier to remove when getting in and out of vehicles. Thanks Jim

Good work freak, like the dawg. Been working on a belt buckle with a bulldog for the local high school. Sorta similar design. Jim

Whinewine, your work is great. Please post more when you have the time. I would like to see more of the banner. I absolutely love the maps. Being a surveyor, maps have been an integral part of my life for... well a long time. I've got to get more info on this and will share whatever I can find that I think will be of interest. Jim

I guess I need to apologize to the folks here. I don't normally do traditional carvings, floral, animals, western. I have fun though and this is a captive audience. Hope to finish my nightstand soon and post it. Walnut and dark leather , with a light even LOL. Hope I don't offend anyone. Keep on smilin Jim

Thanks for the help folks, need all I can get. Like the oak leaf too. Been wanting to do a shotgun case for my fathers gun. An older double 20. He was partial to Oaks. Again thanks. Jim

Anyone have a good source on doing eyes/faces. I shot a few scraps I've been playing with and you can see the direction I lean towards. Need a lot more practice but I could use a little guidance. Doesn't help if you're practicing wrong. On the stained piece is my dog Repo. And I know the staining is BAD, lol Thanks Jim

A couple of Christmas Presents. I put my awl into the cover, pun intended. Pricked myself with the awl and bled spots on the inside of the cover. Had quite a bit laced before I saw the personalization. No harm no foul turned out okay.

Ms Rose Didn't know about her book. Have looked at both of their art on ebay. Both are great. Jim
