i had an order for a plain seat, so off i went..but when i dyed the top it turned out too dark. At this stage i already had the bottom and foam attached. I cut another top and dyed it, then i had to try to get the holes marked to match the bottom. I cut the top a bit smaller this time as the original was a bit too big...now i had to try to fit all those holes on a smaller top. I must of counted and marked the holes about ten times. All seemed good until i finished the first round of lacing..different number of holes on the top to the bottom!!!! dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm The holes on the top were a bit too close together as well. Any way have a look and see what you think...i didnt do the last weave of the lacing as it was getting to chunky...but i quite like the design of the lacing as it turned out. Question....when doing a weave type lacing to most of you complete the weave as you go or do you go around the project 4 times, with the last time around weaving to complete the pattern?? does that make sense!!!??? Do the different ways have a different look??

I decided to use up some old leather that i have had lying around forever and make myself a shopping bag. I made the front piece first..molding the shape with embossed eyes, nose and mouth. I riveted this to the front. The bag was hand stitched inside out then turned out to the right side...tricky!! roo lacing around the top and handles attached. It is not lined as it is only for myself, but i did cut a slit on the inside where the face is attached so it can be used as a pocket.

The neoprene foam is giving me a big headache...the first seat i made i bought an old wetsuit and cut it up and layered it..this worked well but was a big pain in the butt...i am trying to get the neoprene David recommended...1 inch with adhesive backing...i emailed Foam and More for a quote and they want to charge me $90 delivery for 1/2 sheet...this seems outrageously expensive for delivery...

Does anyone know how much lacing i would get from a roo hide if i cut it at 6mm(1/4inch)? Trying to work out if it is worth doing it this way...i can get a hide for about $80..i am paying $35 for 20 meters (65ft) of 6mm, but i can buy 100 meters of 3mm for about $70. thanks

I havent made anything much in ages..in a bit of a leather funk...REALLY sick of making masks...so i thought i would try my hand at bike seats..this is my first pan style seat and would have been lost without Davids wonderful tutorial..the last 100 views have been mine!!! I have done next to nothing when it comes to carving, so i was quite happy with the way my rat turned out..... thanks for looking caroline

thanks...i am talking about basketweave lacing...
-
Ok, so i feel really stupid asking this question...but i have a mental block trying to work this out... i want to basketweave around something and the last time i did this the begining and end didnt work out right..i was either one set of holes short or one set too many!!!....is there a formula so this works out right...must the holes be an even number or does the basketweave need the total number of holes that can be divided by 4....?? thanks
