Red and black shoulder bag
leatheroo replied to leatheroo's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Buttons, you can see in the fifth picture where i have the black strip of leather in place for stitching...grain sides together..then stitched..flip the black over and then glued it to the inside of the bag... cheers -
I have been wanting a red leather shoulder bag for awhile, but couldnt find just the one i wanted and didnt want to pay $200 either!!! So in the back of my mind is the piece of red leather i picked up in the seconds box at the tannery for $10. I thought i would have ago!! The whole bag is hand stitched (santa didnt bring me a sewing machine..maybe i was a naughty girl!!). the black lacing on the two outside pockets is 3mm kangaroo...the shoulder strap is covered in black leather..the sort that jackets are made of...the press studs on the outside pockets are covered in black sheepskin leather...the black trim is the same black leather as the cover on the strap. The skull concho is covering up a black mark that was in the leather. I didnt line the bag as it is only for me...there is a phone pocket on the inside. Thanks for looking....Caroline

When i took a class with peter main (the master) he said he just uses plain old printer paper...print out your design, lay it on the cased leather....make some anchor points outside the finished area....do this by using a stylus to make some deep dots...this way if your design moves you can replace it in exactly the same position..use a normal ball point pen or pencil to trace the pattern...with the pen you can see where you have been...when you have finished just throw away the printed pattern...voila!!!

Correct, i was taught recently that there was no need to bevel if you are going to use a backgrounder...i must admit, i like the look and it does save alot of time...the backgrounder i used has a straight edge on one side..it seems to do the job. cheers -
