  1. That was my first suspicion. Every leather finish I have used to date has worked better if I thin it, apply it lightly, and recoat as necessary. Some finishes, you need an airbrush or something to get thin even coverage without screwing up the dye job.
  2. I wish I had a hair tool for mine
  3. Sounds like something is wrong with the finish. Did you apply the finish thick?
  4. great toolinig and artwork. My brother asked me to make him a motorcycle seat for his harley I really want to, but I have no idea how to upholster the seat. I can handle the artwork and tooling.
  5. I am no sewing machine mechanic, but that sounds like something in the linkage from the lever to the machine needs cleaned, or its over extending preventing it from retracting.
  6. Ive used a lot of Super 77 to hold pieces together to make sewing easier.I have seen those edges separate, even with stitching. Never seen Weldwood contact cement come apart when properly applied and dried. I use 77 when I just want to hold something in place for sewing. If I actually want to glue something together, I use Weldwood contact cement. 77 is way more convenient, but I don't think it bonds near as well as Weldwood.
  7. The clutch motor that came with my consew 206 weighs around 40 lbs. The servo motor I got from Bob is a much, much lighter.
  8. Air rifle? Nice sling I like how you used 2 chicago screws instead of one.
  9. I don't know if this would work on a sewing machine, but on other machinery and firearms that have had years of gunk built up, I clean it with a few cans of carburater cleaner. really gets rid of the gunked up grease in the hard to reach areas.
  10. I have a Consew 206, and I sew everything from felt up to 3/8" leather. Love this machine for what it is, but now that I am getting into more involved projects like holster and gunbelts, I need more capacity and a cylinder arm.
  11. Best glue I have ever used for leather - You can buy it at any hardware store, and even wal mart. Comes in a few ounce jar, pint, quart or gallon containers. Spray glue works for a lot of applications, and its a lot easier and cleaner to apply than contact cement. However, whenever I do something with a big fold or I dont want leather edges to separate, I use contact cement. http://www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-1-gal-Weldwood-Original-Contact-Cement-207534/203661572
  12. Just finished building this reliced dakota red guitar for a fellow, and I always like to include a leather strap with the guitar.
