  2. terrahyd Thanks for telling me to use bing. I did find him and a phone # which was great. I called and talked to Mr. Rios he thought he made this saddle around 1979. He new what saddle I was talking about it seems a lady had sent him a picture of it trying to sell it. He said he offered her $1,500 and she wouldn't take it. He sure was suprised when I told him what I paid and that I bought it off of ebay and I'm pretty sure a pawnshop was the seller. Besides the info. Mr. Rios was a nice fella to talk to. I want to Thank everyone again for their help and knowledge. Mike
  3. I want to Thank everyone for their replies and help. I tried to google Bobs western world and came up with a zero. Does anyone know if their still in business. I found a #379012 under the jockey and fender I do apologize for all the questions but it seems that when I have something I feel the need to know everything there is to know about that item. Thanks again, Mike
  4. I think splitting your strings down some plus the pounding and rolling will show a big difference. Mike
  5. Calvin For the leather belting I've used Oregon leather (541)343-2563 I think their website is www.oregonleatherco.com if ya don't see it give them a holler. I've also seen some on ebay. I also use all the stuff Rob mentioned to build up my knots. I also agree with Rob on using leather or rawhide for a core in bosals and romel reins. Best of luck, Mike
  6. I thought I'd post some pictures(ok a lot) of the saddle I bought off of ebay. Some I double posted one had a flash and the other dont. Wasn't sure which showed better. I was also wondering if there was some way I could take the letters of the persons name off of the silver piece or should I just leave it alone. Also there's a silver plate that says first saddle made by George Rios at Bobs western world. Do ya reckon that's true or just something they stuck on there. Can I clean the silver with silver cleaner or will it damage it. Thanks, Mike

  18. I was wondering if anyone knew of this maker. And what kind of quality saddle he built. Reason why I'm asking is I'm hunting a used show saddle for my 10 y/o daughter and there is one on ebay right now. It's got silver on it and looks to be in good shape the silver does have someones initials on the silver. The initials dont bother us none though. They say it's 30 yrs old. Just wondering on quality and a decent price range. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  19. I'm open to offers. As I really don't want to deal with ebay. Mike
  20. Well I put the new board in and it's been working for a day. So maybe it will keep working. Now I just need to pay the plumber $75.00 for telling me he had no ideas on what was wrong with it or how to fix it. Go figure!! So for now my hot water saga ends and my leaking no freeze hydrant begins. Thank you to everyone for their suggestions Mike
  21. Well the plumber was out and couldn't find the problem. So called India again and there going to ship me another circuit board. We'll see how that goes. Mike

    Braiding Books

lilpep Tell us how ya really feel!!!LOL I have Grants books and some of Houghts. While I've found Houghts books easier to follow I've also learned a great deal from Grants. I think a person can learn something from every book they read. While some are easier to follow than others they all offer something. I'm looking forward to getting the Hall books although with a youngun due in two weeks it might be awhile before I can. Interesting topic it's good to see which books work for everyone. Mike
  23. I got a plumber coming tomorrow. I'm sick of the dang thing!!! Although I did replace the computer board and I think that has the thermostat in it. I'm on duty today so there's not much I can do with it anyhow. Thanks for the help. Mike
