Well this morning I had the crap scared out of me. After I got home from work I got the kids from my inlaws and took the two oldest to school me and my boy went home. I worked on some truck belts for awhile and he watched a few cartoons. I then fixed us lunch well after we ate I sat in the recliner with him. I was going to take a short nap(was tired from night calls) before picking the girls up from school and I figured he would too. How wrong I was I did take a little nap he on the other hand went out and started my car and drove it about 50 yards. He actually missed the house and three other trees before coming to a windblock of cedar trees and hitting one. I had woke up about this time and was looking for him when I looked out the window and saw him running towards the house hollering daddy. Well I ran out there and made sure he was all right which he was luckily. I then went to retrieve my car out of the trees. When I got in he had actually put the car back in park and turned it off. My wife was asleep as she works 3rd shift so I had to wake her up and tell her the boy had wrecked the car! She was not very happy! So the lesson I learned today is to take the keys out of my car. I can finally open pictures again!! I dont know how or why but everything's working again. I asked the wife if she did anything and she said not that she knows of. So I have no idea what was changed maybe the computer gods just took pity on a fool and fixed it for me. All I know is it's fixed and I'm happier than hell about it. Mike

Howdy I still can't get the thumb nail pictures to open up. If I want to see the pictures bigger I have to double click with the right button and open a new tab and then the picture will get bigger. I just posted some pictures in the for sale section. And when I clicked on them in the preview post they did get bigger. But they got bigger the old way by starting at the top and working it's way down. They didn't have all those swirling little circles around them like after the upgrade. And another thing when I put the mouse pointer thing on the the little drop down arrow by my name nothing happens and if I click on that area it just takes me to my profile and I can't get in my mail. And one more oddity when i go to add a new topic I have to hit refresh after filling out the topic title and topic description or I can't type anything in this area. I know all this sounds crazy but thats what I'm dealing with. I updated to the newest firefox do I need to upgrade something else. Could one of the kids of turned something off that I need to make the pictures bigger? I'm at my wits end with this so any and all help is appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I have this splitter for sale. I bought it a while back and used it to split some roo and rawhide. Everything works and all the screws turn freely. The blade is good and has alot of life left in it although it may need a little touch up on the strop. I'm asking $200.00 plus shipping. Please holler if ya have any questions. Thanks, Mike

Johanna Thanks for the heads up about the upgrade. I'll have the wife try that. Right now I'm at work and everything works great here so I reckon it has to be my computer. I just buried one of my daughters cats a few days ago. So that must not work all though he wasn't black and I didn't walk in circles. I wonder if it's to late to do the circle walking.LOL Thanks for the help. Mike

Alright another development in Mikes world of cornfusion. I still can't get pictures to open by clicking but if I right click it brings up some little menu. I can then open the picture in a new tab. I then have to close that tab when I'm done looking at the picture. Does that make sense to anyone? If there are any ideas on why this is doing this I would appreciate it. Thanks, Mike

Howdy all Well for some reason now I can't open any pictures old or new. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike

Johanna I think I'm using firefox Thanks, Mike

Howdy For some reason the pictures that were posted before the upgrade will not get bigger when clicked on. I tried to click on a recent picture that had a old picture posted with it and neither would get bigger. Is there something I need to do to my computer to get the pictures to open bigger or is there another problem. Thanks for any and all help, Mike

jamesg63 That's the steering wheel in my wife's truck i covered. I'm glad ya like it. The knot I used was a multi string knot. I think I used eight strings with each string being 1/8" wide. While there area a few ways to build this knot I think the one Bruce Grant shows in his book How to make cowboy horse gear is pretty easy to follow. It's on pg.35 and is called the nose button. I used the gaucho interweave but you could use the pineapple interweave or a combination of the two. I think Allen Bell has a tut. on building a bosal in the braiding section. I believe he shows a different method of building this knot. Mike

Maeve I've done quite a bit with strands that are 1/32 and a 1/16th and I always use calf. It's nice and thin already. I've tried splitting some thicker cow down and it has worked. But the strands are pretty weak after taking so much off. There's my .02cents worth. Good luck, Mike

Vikefan Thanks for information. I took a look at those and I have a set kinda of like those. I'm trying to get away from having to change the tips. I think it's laziness on my part.LOL But a big thanks for the reply. Thanks, MIke

MADMAX22 Thanks for the reply. I burned some this morning and got a new batch going. Which brings up another question. Does a fella need to neutralize the piece he has dyed. Or is the roon not strong enough to bother the leather. And what do ya do to neutralize the piece if ya need to. I know ya use baking soda. But what is the mixture and do you just wipe the piece down with a wet rag or do ya need to dunk it. Thanks, Miike -

bryanma71 First of all I'd like to welcome ya to a great place! It's always nice to see new braiders! Now to your problem. Since no one else has chimed in I'll give it a go. I think what ya want to do is back braid. I'm not to sure as how to explain this but here goes. When ya get to the end of your braid you'll want to take a strand and fold it over the end of your copper and continue doing this with the other three strands. So that they all have a strand over the top of each other. So now you should have the four strands facing down and spaced evenly around the the braid. Next start back braiding by taking the strand thats holding the others down. With that strand find a strand in your braid to follow back down. Do this with all the strands. When your done roll it real well. Thats how I see it in my head any way! If I get some time in the next few days I'll try to do it and take some pictures. Hopefully someone else will come along and give a better answer. Or please correct me if I'm wrong. Good Luck, Mike

Hello all Yes I need more help. I'm trying to make some vinegaroon (sp) And it aint working worth a darn! I did search the forum and didn't find the answer or completely missed it. So here's what I have done. I put a 000 steel wool pad in a plastic container with not quit 1/2 gallon of vinegar and set it outside with a piece of board on top for a lid. It's been four days now and the vinegar is just as clear as when I put it in there on day one. So questions I have- I'm I being impatient, is the plastic container all right or do I need glass, do I need more vinegar or more steel wool, and it's been pretty over cast these last days do I just need more sun. Thanks for any and all help. Mike

I know it's been said quite a bit but Steve is a heck of a nice guy. I called him this morning to order some thread and needles for my pfaff. Now I know nothing about sewing machines other than not to put my finger under the needle. So Steve was nice enough to explain to me the working of the hook and needle deflector. I was very impressed by his patience and willingness to help me without trying to get me to buy a new machine. Especially since I hadn't bought a machine from him. But he's won my business when I get the money for a bigger machine. And it doesn't hurt that his machines are red my favorite color. In all fairness Steve was the first person I'd called. So maybe if I'd called some of the other fellas they might have been just as helpful. I think we've got a great group of venders on here that help the best they can. So I'm not bad mouthing anyone I just happened to get great help from my first phone call. I'll shut up now because it's taken me about a half hour to type this. Mike
