  1. Inspirational. Excellent job designing and executing pattern. Very pleasing to the eye without seeming cluttered. This book will only look better as it is used and ages.
  2. Beautiful. Love the natural coloring because it brings out the detail so well. The swirls are elegant. Thank you for sharing!
  3. C'mon, folks! It's a holiday weekend in the US and not everyone is at their keyboard. I'm not, and I'm closing this thread. Jaime, please post your question again, and we'll take a deep breath and start over. Johanna Admin
  4. Closing this topic because the video is no longer available. Johanna
  5. I've just been through all the PMs, and everyone that asked should see the NSFW area of the forum. If anyone else wants in, just let me know. ~J
  6. If I promise not to learn any secret carving techniques (I can't carve at all), can I be a fly on the wall? Nevada in the winter sounds like a good plan, especially mixed with leather! Johanna
  7. Just like to remind everyone that if you use clear topic titles, your thread will get more attention and answers. "Help me!" doesn't jog anyone's memory.

  8. I think I'm all caught up again. If I got your message, you should see the NSFW area by the Marketplace on the main index page. If you don't, try logging out, then back in again. Let me know if I missed anyone or there are new requests- and you can do it privately or in this thread, ewhatever is more comfortable for you. No one will know you are a member of the adult section unless you post. Promise. Johanna
  9. Just to clear up any confusion- David Cole was"DCKNIVES" here on the forum. He was one of our earliest members, and he introduced me to many fine knife and sheath makers from the knife sites he prticipated on. He was generous with his expertise and kind with his words, and I'm going to miss him. Johanna
  10. Yep, what Cheryl from LNLeather said. The strap is just a nice touch. FYI- those braided straps don't pull hair like plain smooth ones do, so we long haired girls like them. Rounded braids are the very best. but hard to find, impossible on a mass produced purse. I'm glad my old man showed me how to do it myself. ~J
  11. I am very sad to hear that news. Prayers for his family and friends. He will be missed by many. Please let us know when arrangements are made so his friends can express their sorrow to his loved ones. Johanna
  12. To whet your appetite, check out pictures of some of the shows and museums here. The King Museum is a must- you could spend days in there and not see everything. Be sure to stop at Sheridan Leather Outfitters (On Coffeen Ave near the south exit from the highway) too. The owner's dad is Bob Douglas, and he has all sorts of interesting tools for sale. Better bring money.Their leather is nice, too.The Mill Inn may be historic and interesting, but I noticed it needed a lot of work that wasn't being done during my visit this spring. There are other convenient places to stay in town, and if you like the night life, the Best Western is within walking distance. We really missed Bobby when he never came up the hill! Have fun on your trip, and do not be fooled- Wall is not the Disneyworld of Wyoming the signs promise it to be. Take pics and let us know how things go! Johanna
  13. Saw this today: Thanks, Tandy! http://craftsatthemarketplace.com/lgames.html
  14. The value of the AS Home Study Corse wasn't so much in the lessons and patterns, it was in the personal feedback you received from Al, and later, Harry, as you completed your projects and sent them in. All of the info in the lessons is available in the other AS books. Johanna
  15. RIP Suze! We're going to miss you. Love, your Cuz.

  16. Thank you for so generously sharing your time and expertise with the leatherworking community! I pinned your new patterns. :)

  17. Thank you Roo- think this one should be pinned?
  18. The advantage of adding friends is that when you are sending PMs, you can just click on the name. By default, most people automatically accept new friends, but there is an option to approve the names listed in your profile under friends in your control panel. You can also choose to get email notifications if you are added, or if someone wants to add you as a friend. The choice is always up to both members, and a "no" from either one will discontinue the "friends" feature. Having said that, the "friends" feature is not like Face Book, and you will always be able to see posts by members, unless you click "ignore", but that's another topic in itself. HTH Johanna
  19. Scroll up and call "Ronnie" from Techsew (Raphael in Canada). I have an old Singer that sews 750 stitches per minute. I could quickly sew my arm to saddle skirting. With a Servo Motor (available on all the new machines) you can sew at any speed you want. Having a Servo Motor takes the "intimidation factor" out of sewing leather. Johanna
  20. Real latigo can be "tooled", but it's not ideal for accepting impressions. "Latigo" means drum dyed and stuffed with oils and wax. If you put a bit of water on the leather, does it bead up or does it soak in? Latigo is water resistant (which makes it a good choice for dog collars and cue cases) and vegetable tanned leather (what you use to carve or stamp) is absorbent. HTH Johanna
  21. It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.

      Try making a few Sawbucks.

  22. Sorry, Pounder, I had your user name mixed up in my head with someone else. ~J
  23. We used to do the fairs and craft shows, not to make money, but to get our business cards out there. (Pre-internet days) People were attracted to the leather smells, sounds, and they would watch Jon and John work, which opened the door for conversations and exchanging cards. Sometimes they would call us later, or their friends would call, "Hey, can I speak to that "Leather Guy"? It can't hurt to set up in public, but a website is going to get more attention. Let them watch you work, Chris, they will be fascinated. You never know who you might meet! ~J
  24. Please remember that just because someone is from an Asian country does not make them any less respectable than anyone else, unless, like anyone else, they prove themselves to be frauds or fakes. We've had a few from North America and one I remember from Europe, so let's not stereotype anyone, please. Most of our Asian members, like anywhere else, are good honest people. As far as I can tell, Maltese Leather is not even a member here at LW. Johanna
  25. Hey, we missed you! What have you been up to lately? Glad you're back! ~J
