  1. Thanks everyone for the response. I guess I was just being pedantic. Sorry for the hassle.
  2. Hello, I am having some trouble with Yellow Spots and discolouration on my Ash wood stitching clamp. I have put some beeswax and buffed it hoping it will work but it didn’t help. Does anyone know what the cause is and how to fix it? Thanks
  3. It's called leather edge paint. You can purchase that from many places. Where are you based?
  4. Hello, The quality difference between Fenice and Giardini is hard to determine. Your only option is to try them both and test it out over some time. I can't honestly pick one over the other. About your wish to use the tan kote finish, I suggest you test it on a sample to see if it produces the results you like. I don't think it's necessary but if you prefer to do so then you should try it out. The reason why I advised against buying Fenice from Tandy is because it's diluted and high in price. Campbell Randall sells the better thicker version. On the other hand maybe you should test it out yourself to see if it's adequate for you. I personally thought it was great until I tried peeling it off and it came off. It's very low in viscosity. So now the question is how much investment you are willing to make to try out different types of paints to see which one works best for you. I think you should get samples of Fenice from Tandy, Giardini and Fenice from Campbell R. to see which one you would prefer to use for your business. There's also Varnis 600 from www.mando.fr . I haven't tried that one yet but I plan to do so in the future. Where in Europe are you?
  5. Hello, Where are you located? Why did you decide on Giardini over Fenice? I don't know if you are aware of this but I will tell you anyway. In my opinion Giardini finishes a bit more glossy in comparisme to Fenice. If a matte look is what you are going for then I suggest you choose Fenice. If you want a bit of gloss go for Giardini. If you decide on Fenice I will dissuade you from buying it from Tandy. The Fenice they sell is a diluted version and is of lower quality. Sadly there are not that many retailers of Giardini besides Giardini themselves. I think there's one guy on this Forum who sells Giardini. I think he's called Lekoza or something like that. Search for him on here if you want. I do suggest you get it straight from the source though. The question about which series to buy depends entirely on how you intend to apply the paint. Since you are doing watch straps I presume you are hand painting them. If so then your best option is the Maxmatt semi-dense version. The dense version is very thick and works better with machine application. The semi -dense is quite thick too but suitable for hand application. The Extra - matte is just a top coat after painting which I guess produces the matte effect you would get when using Fenice edge paint. So my advise will be Maxmatt Semi -dense in regards to Giardini. I don't know how you emailed Giardini but I suggest you contact Enrico directly if you plan to place an order - enrico@giardinigroup.it I think the reason why your email to them hasn't been answered is because They are away at a Trade Show in Milan this week so your reply might be delayed. Let me know you if you have further questions.
  6. Hello Petewon, may i know which book or source you used to produce your wallets? Thank you
  7. Hello, i don't know what tools you already have in your possession but in my experience using Giardini or Fenice edge paint with a heating tool like the picture you have above is enough. You can finish it off with beeswax and a good rubbing. It will not leave any stains on your customers.
  8. Hello, what type of leather are you using? For the plastic finish it works best on chrome tanned leather. For that you have two choices Giardini or Fenice.
  9. thanks for the reply. The reason why i was asking is because the Fenice edge paint sold by Tandy is absolutely terrible and it peels off quite easily. Haven't you experienced that? It's not as durable as you might think.
  10. May I ask where you bought your Fenice edge paint from and why you think it's better than Giardini? Thank you
  11. Haven't tried it with the fileteuse yet but I do know the paint is a 1000 times better than the Fenice Tandy is selling.
  12. Hello, Can you tell me how you ordered the Montana edgers? I tried ordering it and paying through Paypal but that wasn't possible. I was told to provide my credit card details which I am not comfortable with. I live in the UK. Let me know how you placed your order if possible. Thank you
  13. Hello Everyone, I will like to know if anyone has a recommendation for an English book on making leather wallets? I can't find any online. Thank You.
  14. Really interested to know the prices from Mr Regad. Can you also find out if he has a list/catalogue of all the available tips (for the handle) and their usage? I am looking for a circular tip which is not available on Mando. Thank You.
  15. Thanks a lot for the reply. I got basically the same quote with regards to these specific items. I suppose you dealt with Jose? I tried making payments to the stated bank account on the pro-forma but it didn't work. Just waiting to hear from them now. Thanks again.
  16. I intend to purchase the Mando tool but i just want to know the differences in price quotes. Tried buying it two weeks ago but there seems to be something wrong with their account. Still waiting to hear from them.At present I am just wondering if I got a fair quote or not since thefanninator mentioned $600. Sounds a lot cheaper than my quote.
  17. Hello, can you please tell me the price quotes you got? I want to know the difference in price quotes. I suppose you talked to Jose from Mando? Hope you reply.Thank you.
  18. Thanks Tree Reaper, I contacted Black River Laser and I got some good news. They plan to sell grommet dies for the Tandy press in the near future so I will get it from there. Thanks everyone for the replies.
  19. Hello, I am new to this forum and I have a question about the Tandy hand press. I just purchased the Tandy hand press because it's on sale. I was disappointed that they didn't have a grommet die to go with this hand press. My question now is if the Weaver Little Wonder dies will fit the Tandy press. If anyone owns the Little Wonder can you then tell me the diameter of the dies? I am hoping to use the Weaver dies for the Tandy press. I live in the UK so it will cost too much to ship the Little Wonder here. Thank You
