I like them, they have a nice shape. The edge looks good and slicked from here. Really nice first set.

Thanx Storm for the nice words. That's what's nice about this place, there's always encouragement. Ray, The whole thing doesn't take 20 minutes to set up. First the canopy, then long sawhorses go up next, then the tables, then the work table, the misc stuff to the back. Out comes the tupperware with product, and the belts get put up, load the tables, and ta da..it's coffee time.

I was torn between just adding to the booth topic, and throwing in another topic on belts, but instead you get this, cause it's a rainy, quiet day here I did just miss the tornado this morning coming back from Zack White's. I saw the funnel coming down, and booted the old Ranger for all she was worth...lol. Anywho, I set up at the Raleigh Flea Mkt, over last weekend. I seem to be starting to be a regular, sortof. I don't have enough product to generate more than a few hundred dollars once in awhile. There are 3 other leather stalls, at least, loaded with stock. One of them just sells the stuff from ZW and others, another sells stuff from China, bags etc. And another sells plain latigo belts, plus sells buckles, and license plates? Mostly, of course, people like the belts. I sit there pounding away making them, that attracts people. So, here's a few pix of the scruffy stall setup. In between any custom work, I'm trying to just make up some cheepy stuff mostly just to pick up a few fivers, as you see on the "Idea table". Thos toolbags haven't sold yet, but they have generated a lot of custom work. I am building up ideas just by being there, and looking at other's stall, how I want it to look. I'll be building new racks, and having some side drops. In my head it looks good. I'll be staging it at home this week or so, we'll see if the reality works. You'll see some pix of some new belts I'm making at the stall, and at home. I'm just bored of all the regular ones that I sell between 20 and 25. I'll offer the arrowheads basketweaves, and the "fake snake" ones for 35, and see if they sell. The arrowhead takes about 1/2 hour to tool up, the snake takes about 45 min. That makes them the most expensive belt at the fair. We'll see if they sell. Not really showing off here, just yappin...showing my simple existence...lol Don't forget to contribute to the drawing. You live here too! And stay away from the donuts, and the tornadoes.....

Nice job!!. The brown cayman matches in there real good. The double stitch lines are a professional touch. How hard was it to stitch the cayman? Did you have to allow for the bend, or just fit and stitch? The W&C has a nice look.

In my little belt making tutorial, there's a few pix of that arrowhead design...maybe real life pix might help you out. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...amp;#entry57694 It's really just a matter of a center line, and watching that the points meet right. (don't scratch the line as hard as I did, or you'll get that line down the middle after finishing goes on). The exact angle can be easier if you use the edge border line to match the backend of the stamp up with, after you place the front leg on the center line. I like to do both sides, rather than one side down the length first, it seems easier to match up for me that way. But with a little practice, you can figger the way you like. It takes me about 1/2 hour to do the whole design with camo down an entire belt blank...all pretty much free hand after the center line.

Welcome to the Forum Tele52! Most people either draw their own, or surf the net for copyright free designs. You could probably find some simple ones in places like Tandy, etc. But if you do, those will be the ones that are copied a lot. Take a look through some of the posts here, like in the Motorcycle section for some fine examples. Do a search of the forum for "skull", and you'll find quite a few posts. There's a pretty good size contingent of skull lovers. I would suggest you didn't copy any of them without permissions from the Member, but you could see what's involved, and you could ask about it, that's for sure.

What a shame. We all run into this stuff, and it seems more often nowadays. Leatherworkers in general have not been all that respected by a great many people. Sure the big names can command that respect and the monies that go with it, but there really is a lack of understanding out there as to just how much work goes into even the simplest of projects. "A laced wallet is how much? I can get one at the local Dept store for $12." Now, these are the same people who wouldn't even consider trying to talk the Plumber, or the Electrician, or the Mechanic down from their prices, but when it comes to a Craftsman, there is some kind of mentality that we aren't tradesman, that we are some kind of home hobbyist out to screw the public. And then the very next customer wants to give you a little extra, cause you did such a nice job for them. SO it evens out over time. Don't be too upset at your customer. sometimes it takes a little time for people to learn. The good part is that they will... Whatever you do, don't back down on the price you have set for yourself. If one person doesn't get it, the next one will. It's tough out here for a pimp...I mean craftsman...lol

Not to start an off topic branch, but I was reading a scientific chemist board last week, and they said that oxalic/bleach etc, only kill the top of the mold. They actually recommended using Vinegar to really kill any mold. So, if nothing else of the usual tried and true recommended fixes work, I would say read all the Black/Brown Vinegaroon Topics here on the board, and possibly consider using that to salvage your project.
