  1. That's what I found also. No pictures of the recent shows. At least the links didn't work. A BIG congratulations to Casey Jordon for a excellant job and fine craftsmanship. I know those skills don't come easy. Some say "Your lucky", There's no luck involved at all, it's just hard work and time spent. Congratulations Casey.
  2. OH GOSH IT'S HOT AROUND HERE, WORKED OUTSIDE TODAY AND ALMOST MELTED. I'M JUST NOT BIG ON DIRECT SUNLIGHT WHEN IT'S ESPECIALLY HOT.... I'D RATHER BE IN THE SHADE.

    Factory trees for sale

Most all these have sold. The only one left is the Buster Welsh Cutter tree. If someone's interested, it was made by Timberline tree company in Vernal Utah. As new condition. I'm asking 225 plus postage. Interested parties, just send a note and I can post pictures and measurements.
  5. the important thing is that the rawhide is prepared properly, a little on the dry side is better than too wet.
  6. Mark, those are fine looking taps. Nice work. My only question is. Did you hand sew that strip on the front over the join? They look good. I usually just put a welt on the middle and machine sew down to the point and stop, and put a concho with lace through to hold the bottom tabs together. Thanks for posting the pictures.
  7. The weldwood glue that we buy here in Canada is solvent based. It seems to dry quickly. Only thing is if your doing alot, open the windows some for fresh air.
  8. I've been using weldwood for more than 15 years. It works fine, drys fast enough and sticks good. The best part is that it's 22.00$ for a gallon. I have a new can of masters for a year now and still haven't opened it. Go figure, why mess with success. Thats my two bits worth.
  9. JJ, would you mind posting pictures of the 3 cyclone stitchers you posted for sale. I'd be interested in looking at that. Or you could send some pictures directly. Thank you.
  10. Jack, would you consider posting some photo's of those machines? At least we could see what they look like. Most people never even seen one.
  11. Johanna we wanted to go again this year. Last year had a wonderful time. All the great photo's you posted brought back all the awesome memories. Thanks for posting this.
  12. I have a two sets also, there are 3 sizes now, he didn't have the medium size until most recently. You maybe looking for his large size for saddles. The small one is good for belts and small items. Hide Crafter used to carry Barry's tools. You may check and see their online catalog for pictures.
  13. Barry King makes good stamps for that. His won't bend under normal use. They're stainless steel. and well made.
  14. There's one on ebay, listed today for 900, buy it now auction. It shouldn't last long at that price. Not that I like them at all. I won't buy one if you gave to me. But it is listed there on ebay. I think you'd be better off with a real stitching machine. I've heard about two pearson stitchers sitting in a shed now for years. Possibly get those for reasonable price. I've not seen them yet, but I think it's far better to spend a little more on something that will serve your purpose much better than a tippman boss will only frustrate the $%^&&*( out of you.
  15. For those of you who wanted the information. I found it the Leather Crafter Journal. Landis Sales & Service 115 East C.R. 500 North Arthur, Illinois, 61911 phone 217-543-3464 fax 217-543-2515 Eli Schlabach
  16. In a pinch, when the needles are too long for the machine and the proper length is not available. You can break the top end off a needle to make the right length. A vise, small hammer and micrometer are all you should require. Even a ruler would do to measure with.

    Howdy from WV.

Dave, welcome to the forum. This is an awesome place to learn a few things about making leather goods. There are a couple video's made that are good for instruction in the making of holsters. Others here maybe more familiar with which ones to recommend. I'm sure you can find some by a google search. Ebay is a good source to buy such things for a bargain price.
  18. You may want to purchases a couple edgers to start with. The ones that get most use around here are 2 & 3. The others sure do come in handy from time to time.
  19. Looks like a sweet deal on that. Good for you. Awesome deal....
  20. Andrew, the answer is easy from my perspective. I've never used a Union Lock, some people love them when they're sewing good. Some people hate them and don't get along with them at all. I suppose you could say that about anything including a 16. I have two Landis 16 and love em. I use them for making saddles and tack, they sew tight. Besides there's a fella who has been rebuilding the landis 16's. He advertizes in the shop talk and or leather crafter journal. His name is Eli ....? No sure his last name, very helpful and knowledgeable. He has parts. If I can help just PM me a message. Bob
  21. Ray, have you even considered Canada? The fishing and hunting is really good, and the health care system is quite good. Check out the real estate at mls.ca Besides Ray, Canadians are the most friendly on the globe..... well I think so anyway.
  22. Wildrose, that's incredible. When we were kids, going over a two ft ramp meant that you were almost ready for the loony bin. I've never seen anything quite like that before.... It's quite amazing to see what young people can accomplish with a lot of spare time and a good bicycle. Thanks for posting that.
  23. Mark, nice clean workmanship. Real nice stitching too. Keep up the great work. Bob
  24. Darcy, that IS very nice stitching. Nice stamping too.
  25. Here's a couple pics of a saddle stand in our shop.
