Really cool piece of art. You really nailed the eyes (According to my wife the art teacher, eyes are the toughest thing to get right). Also, the perspective is spot on. Great job.
I just bought my first tandy knife today. I'm already looking for a better knife. Since Henley is local to me, I'll be giving him my business as soon as I can.
Ian Atkins has a great tutorial on that very bag. He is very informative. Just search leodis leather. He also has patterns for sale to go along with the video.
Utterly amazed. I love that even though you did all of that intricate stamping, you left the main body of the holster alone. Such a nice contrast and use of balance. Kudos sir.
That's a beautiful bag. I have also been very impressed with Ian's knowledge and willingness to share it. I'll be making a tote for my wife's birthday before I tackle a bag. But I'm looking forward to it.
I used to run a granite department. There are tons of scrap in that industry. You can easily get a free piece. You might want to pay a few bucks and have it squared up and polished. I would lean towards the blacker granites as they are more dense than the lighter colors.
Have you thought about taking up your father's hobby. In my situation I found it relaxing, therapeutic, and a great escape. That's my suggestion for what it's worth. Your dad already did the hard part for you, the investment.
