  1. [ It has been awhile since I posted anything new. I have been wanting to make this for ages. So here it is. I first made a double paper mache form to use as a base. I then put a leather mask over that. Once I had the solid base, I began to place the layers of leaves. After I was satisfied with the place ment I panted the many layers . Basically a dry brush painting on then pulling it off with my fingers to create a muted or mottled look. I did not want to spray it with sealer so I used auper Shine product. I am very pleased. What do youl think? Kimber
  2. So sorry I missed your birthday. Crazy year here. I hope it was fabulous.

  3. Has anyone made renn faire shoes , otherwise known as viking shoes?

  4. Good Morning All and thank you for the wonderful replies. The bags are indeed tooled. As for close ups , well you can see I am a terrible photographer. So, sorry. Diaper Bags!!?? Oh dear lord , I already have twin grandsons , please let them all get married first! LOL! The dye is something I came up with because I cannot find a good pink dye anywhere. It is a 32 oz bottle of Fiebings reducer with a 1/2 small bottle of Fiebings OX Blood Dye. I love the color and have used it several times. Have a great day all! kimber
  5. Tom all I can say is ... DAMN! kimber
  6. Fiebing white is the worst stuff out there. To make pink , I use a dauber of ox blood in a small bottle of reducer. The same with grey, using a dauber of black and a small bottle of reducer. If you want darker adjust and use twice the oxblood or black. I hope that helps. kimber PS. I just made 2 large Hot Pink bags. For those I used 1/2small bottle of ox blood to one large bottle of reducer.
  7. So the two new daughters in law love pink and they love fairies. Sooooo, being the good Mother in Law I decided to make them each a Hot pink Fairy bag for Christmas. They loved them! Personally , I think the Hot pink vacuum cleaners I bought them were the cooler gift. I mean come on now, what other mother in law finds HOT PINK vacuum cleaners??? LOL! kimber
  8. Thank you and a very happy Birthday to you as well. Nice to meet a fellow Capricorn who is also a leather worker!

  9. Hi Sas, I was also having a bit of issue with the Fiebings Red dye. I used just a drop or two of black dye and the color was no longer pink. Now if you want a pretty deep pink, try a bit of Ox blood with reducer, comes out beautiful!

  10. Thanks Max and Deseree, I love fairies and prefer the muted colors. esp for fall. kimber
  11. Tom , These are beautiful. How do you get your eyelets so pristine? kimber
  12. Good Morning Leather World, I hope everyone had a great holiday. This is my newest creation. I made a tube style purse and an oval bottom. The top of the bag I v gauged and I cut out a leaf pattern. When I lined the bag with the gold pig skin suede I continued it onto the outer leaf that shows. The finishing touches of paint added to the leaf design. I carved this particular fairy because as soon as I saw her she reminded me of my own thought processes and made her blond because this one is mine. I prefer the muted fall colors to all others. I used the largest amber colored jewel rivets I could find for feet. I am in love with the mystery braid and will use it for awhile,(till I learn a new trick) so,I used that braid for straps. I took a gel stain and added water to it. Before you cringe at that thought , let me just say I got the desired effect. I wanted the straps to resemble bark or grain of a tree. The gel does not allow all of the water to dilute it. So where the stain puddled. I removed it and the effect very much looks like bark. See, not as blond as one might think. The results are pleasing to me. Also, others as I now have 6 orders for similar bags. Even 2 in pinks(rolling my eyes). I hope you guys like . Have a great day. Kimber
  13. H Tom, Yes, I also was concerned about adjustment, but that is what was ordered exactly to the length.
  14. LOL, I would say , more than a bit of the Dark Side of the Moon was a the major influence.
  15. Hello All, I am been at it again. This piece I actually am very proud of. The idea was a bit far fetched , but when I completed it , I was thrilled. I even learned a few new tricks. Double prisms, smaller one with the spectrum entering it from the bottom as if the music was entering it, then traveling up with the customer's initials along the band of white light, then entering the slightly larger prism and exploding out the top, as if the music is exploding. The mystery braid at the back. Yep , loving this one. I hope everyone is well and happy. Hugs, kimber
  16. The best I could do to get the bag to attach.
  17. I tried to upload the entire Bag Pic but could not get it to attach. The customer wanted a Dragon and that is what she got. This was a fun project. The bag is a whipped stitched version of a large book bag. She wanted it to be rough and simplistic. I think I gave her what she wanted. She loves it, hope her friend loves the gift as much as she does. I will upload the pic to another listing. I am also working on two Fairy purses, that I will post when they are complete. Kimber
  18. one word ...beautiful. thanks for sharing such fine work.
  19. Hi All, Yep, i am back. Was gone for a minute or two and back to my senses. i never really read the responses fromthis funny purple bag. The pc i was on the crashed and i no longer have the pic of the matching ugly bag. She still loves it and has asked for several more bags, she now wants one in lime green. OOOOK , and yes, the money is green...not lime though. Have a great evening and thanks again for the positive feedback. kimber
  20. Celtic knotting is a tricky adventure. You chose a nice smooth pattern and i agree beveling is the bain of many toolers existences. i will say that once you get hooked on the celtic knots, you will LOVE it. Buzz anytime to ask questions. Happy leather banging.
  21. Hi Kate , Great to chat with you again. It was a smile. He was flirting with me and said between the armor and the flirting he was having a hard time keeping the smile off his face. Men are funny. He was thrilled and that is all that matters. As for the making , this is my first piece. I see things i would do differently , but as long as he is happy this time , i will be as well. He just ordered a purse as a Christmas gift from me as well. So i love it when the customers are happy! Have a great day. It is stormy here in MD. kimber
  22. I love the idea . I have a custom strap that has been ordered and maybe i will add this item as a show off. Great lil addition. Sorry about the boo boo. I gashed my finger today on a punch while working the Renn gear. Gotta love the band aids.
  23. Thanks Tim. I was wary as to how they would look but it pleased the customer so all went well. I had a blast creating this piece and if must say so myself , he looked great in it.
  24. Hi All, I know it has been ages since i posted anything new. I have been working , just remiss in posting. So, here in MD the Renn Faire is back and so many are looking for a new addition to their costume. This man is a regular customer and good friend of mine. Gonzo wanted a shoulder and breast plate to go with the belt from last year. This is the gear. Hope you all like it. Latigo and boy scout scales turned out pretty good. He loved it. Happy Renn to All. kimber
