I'm not happy at all with the wat it turned out. But rest assured I wont stop till I have made a better barrel. A better barrel is a happy barrel. Tom

Thanks all. I couldn't have done it without your help.

Well I got it done. If you can guess how many chicken legs you have to eat to find a bone thats just right you win a prize. I needed to make the pen. I think my nephew will like it though, ugly chicken leg and all. Tom P.S. No more chicken for awhile. Beef

Well this is what I have so far. The shape isn't quite right yet. I have an idea though. I'm gonna go to the hardware store and get a plumbing plug. The kind you put in PVC then tighten. It's made of rubber so I'm thinking As it tightens it'll stretch the middle of the barrel. Wish me luch. Hope I dont rip the stitchs out. Tom

Howdy Tom, I've got it stitched together and some what shaped. And yes I am going to try the wet molding. I'm thinking it might be easier to rough shape it before sewing it. This is just a proto type. I need the practice. On everything. But it's looking good so far. I'll try and take a photo of so you can see where I'm at so far. All I have is a cheap 50 dollar Radio Shack camera but I'll try. Tom

Howdy from South CarolinaWell I'm gonna try and make a little barrel. Got the idea when I knocked over my pencil cup for the 100 th time. It wont keep me from knocking over my pencil cup but at least it will look better than the mason jar I have them in now. If it turns out that is.Tom

carr52 replied to carr52's topic in Books, Journals and Photo Albums
It's dark brown. I just sorta thinned it about 50%. I didnt get the inside as light as the outside but thats ok. I'll know to mix up enough to do the whole thing next time. Tom -
Thanks every body. I think I'm even getting the hang of the picture posting thing. Tom

I needed boots so I found some old K mart brand boots and split em open so my bionic leg would fit inside. " Not really Bionic just fake" I dont get the computerized one from the VA till July or August". Before this all I had to wear was some $11.00 Wal Mart brand sneakers that I split open in the back so I could get my fake leg in. Well it's the foot part that doesn't fit in. Since it doesn't bend at the ankle I had to use low top sneakers. Hey I think I'm getting the hang of this picture thingy. Now I wish I hadn't said that. Tom

I made the grain lines longer and used fewer knots. I stained it a little too dark but since it is on the inside I think it will be ok.

I just made one similar to that for my KELTEC 9 mm. I really like the way it wears on my hip. Very comfortable. Especialy since the KELTEC is a small weapon. Nice work. Tom
