  1. I am new to leatherwork and have only made a couple of items. I saw a photo of a coin purse on the web and thought it would be a good opportunity to use up some scrap leather and try making my own pattern from the photo. I knew i had messed the snap position up near the start of the project but I though I had to see it through and complete it. Pity because I thought the pattern sort of worked. We live and learn
  2. Susan, Try the Identity Store; they have something that looks very similar but they are called screw posts. They are very helpful if you phone them. http://www.theidentitystore.co.uk
  3. Nigel Armitage sells a downloadable pdf about belt making through his website
  4. Tom, I am new to this site and just came across this pattern of yours. I thought it would make an ideal first bag attempt for a bag. One thing; you state that you were considering making it out of 6-8oz veg tan. This seems to me like it would be hard to sew on the gussets; particularly the smaller one. I thought about using the 6-8oz for the front and back and 3-4oz for the gussets. Do you think this would be okay?
  5. Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll let you know how it works out
  6. 3M sounds easy, I have used it to mount paper patterns on to card to use as templates however I didn't think it would be strong enough for leather. Perhaps I might use that and then some more specific glue at any exposed edge
  7. Hi all. I have only being doing leather work for a few months now following an evening class and I am about to try making my first bag. I would like to try and line the inside surfaces of the bag with pig suede. My question is how and what do you use to bond two large surface areas like this together (previously I have only had to glue edges together prior to sewing)
