I use some steel fender washers and trace with my X-Acto blade very carefully to make a curved corner. A little touch up with some sandpaper and they're perfect. Andy

How To Market Your Leather Business
AndyL1 replied to Daniel Tyack's topic in Marketing and Advertising
Thanks fellas! I do have a good friend of mine that's in the programming biz. He's going to help me get the site functional. I may sit with him while he does the programming so I can gain a bit more knowledge on the subject. I've been on Elance before... in fact scored a couple of jobs off of it while unemployed this past year. Luckily I start my new full time, permanent gig on Monday! Cheers, Andy -
How To Market Your Leather Business
AndyL1 replied to Daniel Tyack's topic in Marketing and Advertising
Great tips man! I am trying to build my own website though as I really need to learn how to do that. It would be nice to not have to worry about it though and live stress free! HAHA! -Andy -
Well I bought this Juki LS-321 on eBay about a year ago... it's just the head only. I finally took it over to Steve and Tony at The Leather Machine Co this past week. They hooked it up just right! The speed control on the motor is great as I have it set to slow right now as I practice. Thanks a ton Steve! And your machine guy Tony did a great job. Cheers, Andy

Hey man nice work! That's a bad-ass koi, I may have to try my hand at it too. iStock is a great resource as well. I get a lot of inspiration just browsing through there aside from occasionally purchasing some artwork. Great photos on your site too by the way (yeah I checked it out). Cheers, Andy

Welcome to the forum! Your photos though apparently aren't! :-) Something strange happening with those as I can't see them. -Andy

Cobra Wallet
AndyL1 replied to pitman's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
That cobra is bad-ass! Nice work for sure. And yeah, did you make the guts? -Andy -
Thanks for the replies. I didn't seal this leather up as it's already been dyed and oiled from the store. I didn't think it necessary. I don't want the leather to gain any sort of shine, would the Neatlac have a low-sheen to it?

Hey All, I recently made a bag for a friend of mine using the Stoned Oil hide from Tandy HERE Now when she used the bag, some of the color rubbed off and stained her shirt. I tried duplicating the effect by rubbing the leather with a white t-shirt rag and sure enough I had some color transfer. It looked like I had a dirty rag in the end. Anyone out there ever experience this with this leather? I really like the hide and want to use it more but I'd hate to be staining peoples clothes! Maybe some sort of sealer is needed? I'm also thinking maybe it's excess oil coming out of the hide and not really dye as the leather keeps its color after the rubbing. Thanks in advance for any help, Andy

My First Collection!
AndyL1 replied to corter's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice website man. It's got a really nice, clean design that reflects your work. There were though a couple of things that were kind of weird (to me that is): 1. The Gallery navigation for me is awkward. I'd like a "forward" arrow clicking me into the next gallery rather than clicking the number. I feel I have to move my mouse and chase each new number so it's not quite intuitive. Especially when you get past the fifth page. 2. The "Shop" link takes me to a shop policy page where there is another link to finally get into your shop. I want to get in the Shop with one click. 3. The font size is a bit small, but it didn't bother me too much. Otherwise I enjoyed the site quite a bit. I love your photography as well. Sorry if I'm a bit critical it's just I'm working on my own site right now and have all this junk on my brain about it! Cheers, Andy -
Almost, that one is way to big for what I need. I think the ones from OTB will work for me. Thanks for looking out for me!

So cool. I love all the detail you put into your work. The custom casted bits make it just awesome.

Oh yeah I didn't really think about looking there. I wasn't sure it would be something they sold. Thanks Tina! I bet I could antique the brass ones. That's kinda what I need.
