Damascus round knifes start at around 890 usd https://view.publitas.com/anonymous-made/info/ sure is pretty Did you ever end up finding the perfect round knife?
-
tried these fasnap brand ones and they were pretty good I also liked that they were 5/16" post so nice and long for leather https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078RF99WD/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 says they're not available now though

I think I need something like this but not for tiny type for big stamps but whats the name for this type of tool so I can find one theres one hole in the top of my heated arbor but its a pretty big hole
-
thanks I'll try making a jig like that. was thinking maybe magnets too to side against but not sure if they would move.. how do I attach my stamp to it to heat it up though. the instructions say use high temp tape but that seems a little crazy if I'm heating git up to 320* and annoying when I change stamps

how can I look at my snaps and tell if they are bronze or brass? sailrite has pull the dot and I ordered some of those yesterday to see if I like them or not https://www.sailrite.com/All-Hardware/Fasteners-and-Hooks/Snaps-and-Fasteners/Fastener-Type/Pull-The-DOT/type/Products?order=custitem_popularity so you're saying the DOT durable will be the best snap ?

This is the one from that leather workers wall. Got some kind of rubber pieces under it but it’s metric https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004JJMQBE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_bS8wCb7MTTSC6

Don’t think plastic would be ideal for cutting with blades but it’s a 1/4”

Glad I asked thanks for letting me know

Just got an embossing press but wondering how I can attach my stamps to it, there’s one hole but it’s much bigger than my stamp thread also do you guys have any good ways to make the process repeatable? It comes with some magnets but I think I’ve seem a track system that slides in and out. Seems a little better

they didnt get back tome, guess its the type of place you have to call?

You guys have any solutions for making long cuts without the ruler slipping on the leather? Wondering id one of these rulers with a handle would make a difference Amazon ruler I saw one hanging on a Pinterest tool wall Or maybe this kind of thing Amazon link

Are these spots in the leather normal after dying cheaper leather? Think this is Tandy craftsman. If this is not normal it could be that the spots are from how I wet the leather using a spray bottle before dying?
-
thank you I see a number of strength options thats nice. what would you think that the bucleguy ones would be equivalent to? also how do you order from that site? https://www.romefast.com/Snap-Fasteners-Round-Spring-Five-Eighths-Inch.asp

per everyones feedback on the buckle guy snaps and i tried out these line 24 https://www.buckleguy.com/line-24-snaps-cap-15mm-ring-socket-antique-brass-s15b51ln-solid-brass-100-per-bag/ they are not holding strong enough for what I want. I think the sailrite ones hold stronger. anyone else know of other snaps that hold stronger

Was wondering if it might crimp the top of the river and mess up if just cutting. So you put the awl in and take a couple cute around it ?

Came across this hanging method. Read in the comments he started covering it up though because people warned against sun damage http://www.goldbarkleather.com/sourceblog/diy-leather-rack

How I now straighten leather for strap cutting
Treesner replied to RockyAussie's topic in How Do I Do That?
for this leather part that you say is temporarily glued down, does it have to be set back 1/4" from the bar or could it go under the bar? maybe just have the leather with grommets that slide over the screws you use for the leather bar -

so thinking maybe this end with the screw could just be a threaded insert in the table then you have a knob+bolt that threads through the hole to tighten down. or the metal could just have keyhole and you just have a screw in the table so the metal just fits over the keyhole, slides back and is locked in place -

would like to work that into my current cutting table build -
yeah I just wonder if it will get in the way when doing normal cuts because it would be proud of the cutting mat and that means the ruler would be hitting it when the ruler is coming off the edge of the bench. maybe it slides up or its sort of like woodworking tables where they have the bench dog holes and you just push up the dowels when you're using them to have something for the wood to go against these are the fancy ones that actually pop up not just normal wood ones that move up http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=70156 thank you I was going to look for that link remember seeing that. thats a cool feature. I think I would also like a perpendicular version of that after the one edge is cut straight
-
oh thats not my bench just reference to the ruler holder. the cutting table I'm making is much deeper for bigger pieces. just hard for me to post my iPhone photos on here because they're always to large ! thanks yeah was wondering if it would get in the way / pressing into it while working. seems nicer than having it laying on the bench tho because its so big. guess could cut the cutting mat a little shorter on the front and have a recessed part for the ruler to stay

can you cut down double cap rivets with pliers for the height that you need? what would be the right amount sticking above theleathtr? do you guys do that where you purchase the long rivets and just cut down as you need? That's what I've been doing with the solid copper rivets.. also is the jiffy brand the best double cap rivet for high strength sheaths and such?
-
ah so you lay them out flat, that would be nice. was considering doing a shelf under my cutting table but might be a little small still for the big pieces
-
hah yeah like I said couldn't find a leather tooling example just that stick one to show the pattern. Appreciate that tool reference I'll pick these up and give them a go. All the kits of tooling sets seem like they have a bunch of stamps for repition type patterns that wouldn't really suit my needs
