  1. Could you recommend a press? Setup that I could get? I see a lot of the band held (soldering iron style) ones but I don’t see a good way to measure temp with those press would be nice seems like kingsly is the popular model in the states. Should I get the one with the foil stamping setup if I may want to do some foil stamping in the future?
  2. Hey guys I have some brass branding irons I had made on Etsy but never seemed to find the perfect formula for hearing the things up! If I do wet veg tanned and cold stamp it looks good but I want to burn it in to have a black design. I’ve tried propane torch, around 30 seconds will do it but it’s in consistent and easy to burn to fast and not get it deep enough. Also if I stamp after dye sometimes it’ll bubble up and not look good If I use a heat gun it takes like 10 minutes but very hard to get black. You guys have any technichqes? I’m going to try propane heat from the back of the stamp next and see if that does anything
  3. do you have a link? not seeing them
  4. thanks are flat ones hollow/ two pieces? basically I want to grind away material so that I can make a square instead of a circle but all the ones ive done ive found they are two pieces and fall apart when I grind them unlike the pure copper ones
  5. do you know where to purchase? not sue who randy is thanks
  6. hmm do you think I could flatten it first before setting? the reason I'm looking for this is so that I can cut the edges off and turn the circle into a square
  7. has anyone seen any square heavy duty button snaps?
  8. holding a saw holster shut so does no one make a rivet style button top where I can just set it instead of screw it ?
  9. was wondering if its a sales pitch as well.. Osborne said I needed a social tool to set the stainless grommets (tool is double the price of normal)
  10. does anyone make a double cap rivet thats easy to set however with a flat front and solid non hollow top like the tops of copper rivets. I basically want the appearance of the copper rivet but don't need the extreme hold and slow install time.
  11. are there any other options for head buttons other than the Chicago screw style? I'm red lactating them but still they rattle loose with the abuse of dirtbike riding.
  12. Been experimenting with different edge finishing and theres some great resources on how to get an amazing edge, however it is very time intensive. What do you think is the best fast way to finish an edge for projects that might not need the most beautiful and perfect edge.
  13. hey guys I've been trying to put a 1/4 grommet in some thick webbing and am having issues with the grommet bending (brass) and then finally tearing out. I've checked my hardware store for the thinest washers I could find to reinforce/ make a wider area but I can only fit a washer on one side due to the length of the grommet. Also bought these Osborne grommets which are stainless steel, only stronger version I could find than brass but they'll still a bit short. Any source for more heavy duty grommets and or longer ones so I can fit 2 washers and make them HD myself
  14. thats what I was thinking that a stick makes it less strong. good call on making stick length longer. on something like this would you stop right before the ends or go over? If you go over seem like it would make it easier to tear the stick loose? Think this is around 6oz. Was thinking after the fact that 10 oz for the strap would be better and would be easier to accomplish by using rivets. would you widen and do two vertical rivets or just one?
  15. Anyone found any good magnets to sandwich between two pieces of leather or fabric? i've tried some of these sheets from ACE but they were horrible, no where near as strong as rare earth. however the rare earth are so fat and also pretty narrow
  16. Working on a sheath for my band saw for the dirtbike. I run it on the handlebars and it takes a ton of absuse. This is the second one that I’ve sewn on and had it rip. When I stiched it with #69 on a sailrite I went back and forth a few times, curious if that made it weaker.. I added these copper rivots after it ripped to make it stil work. Anyone have any solutions for a stronger design next time I make one?
