  1. Thanks guys, Troy yeah as soon as I started stitching I noticed the marks left by walking foot but it was too late to do anything. Keep forgeting how soft tooling leather is! Tom I really don't like eyelets but that's maybe just me. My mate stipulated it had be as old looking as possible hence no eyelets. Yeah starting to enjoy the tooling now, everytime I pass the kitchen window the shed is just screaming at me to get in there and pound. Getting an extension built to house to make room for a bigger workshop, more room to make a clutter!!
  2. Hi just finished these last night, tooled design then dyed in dark roast coffe over night then dk brown polish over 2hrs slowly working in at different periods over two hours then 2 coats neatsfoot oil. These are for a mate and Jacobite.

  6. Ok UKRay just checked my old barnsley catalogues, and its called a Steel Shoe Lift No.6188. You can still get most of Barnsley's stock from a company in Sheffield called Woodware Repetitions Ltd, 47 Mowbray st, Sheffield. S3 8EN, 0114 272 6060. They are related to the original George Barnsley and bought all ex stock and machines for making the tools, worth a call for that elusive tool.
  7. It is used for shoemaking, when you have to put the last back in the shoe to finish off shoe, adding sole and heel. Usually used after fitting stage. Can't remember the name at the moment but use it on a dailly bases.
  8. Thanks for the advice guys, spoke to customer tonight and he now wants leather to be an old ancient brown colour, so as we speak leather is being dyed in coffee overnight. Hope he likes it?

I've already started tooling the logo on to 3oz leather but have never dyed leather before. Is Tandy the best place to get dye or is there any other supplier in the UK I can use? And the big question which kind of dye? Yours Hopefully...
