If you can find them anymore, they are Craftool Pro # X2840 & X2842. These are a solid stainless steel stamp tool, & some of the best Tandy ever offered. It is sad that Tandy ever dropped this line up of stamps, because they were deemed too expensive.

Yeah Southerngunner I bought a couple higher priced basketweave stamps, & they got 4 alignment tabs on them 2 stamps I bought. It's got a raised tab/locator on each corner of the stamp & as long as you get the 1st line of stamping straight, it goes good stamping/tooling. The geometric stamps get me messed up, & I've not perfected them at any level.

I'm going to try the wood chisel method later on this evening & see what kinda results I get. I'll keep everyone posted. I appreciate the advice everyone. Thanks its greatly appreciated.

Thanks I was reading about this method somewhere on the forum. I have been using a hollow hole punch on each end of the slot & then cutting it out with a razor knife. It works, but at times gives less than desired results. I got some high priced wood chisels up to 1½" wide. I'll give this method a try later on & see how it looks. Thanks for the advice.

Ok thanks. I thought about that, but wasnt sure on how well it worked. I got 3 sizes of 1", 1½", & 1¾" oblong punches I want to buy, but dang them suckers are expensive! Thanks again for the advice.

Guys & gals I would like to try my hand at making pancake holsters & sheaths. Which oblong bag punch should I buy to get started with? I know most duty belts are usually 1¾" wide, but most of my belts I make are 1½" wide, which punch size & from who should I buy? Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.

I think your oak leaves look great! Great work. For the stitches I would get a seam ripper to cut your thread to take apart & re-stitch. You probably will have to cut every stitch with the seam ripper. I'm just learning back grounding myself, but I think the checkered back grounders are easier to use. I got a pebble back ground, that seems harder to execute. I'm not sure on measuring for your welt, I always lay the knife in the sheath, before it sewn & visualize my welt shape. Also to make your sheath look better/more professional, you should burnish your edges. Nice work & thanks for sharing.

Well dang it! You are supposed to take a couple pics before you sell it. Yeah basket weave is soo nice when its executed perfectly. I have my hit & miss days when tooling the BW. Thanks for the kind replies.

Yeah I want a power skiver & strap cutter, but just cant afford them. I recently decided to order a cobra class 4 sewing machine & it's going to wipe out my fun money i have stashed. Yeah i watch guys that have been using this style skiver for years & they make it look soo easy to do. I know i wont have the required skill/ technique to use it like they do. Ok guys & gals, I got this swivel knife from James Linnell, & here is my 1st cuts with it. It's a really nice dual bearing swivel knife. I also got 2 other blades. A 1/4" hollow ground & a 1/4" angled. I'll have to try the other 2 blades & see which blade I like the most.

Ok thanks. No when I thin a belt in the buckle bend area I thin it out from the buckle bend to the end of the belt. Basically I thin it from the buckle bend to the end of the belt. Roughy I thin 4-6" of the buckle end of the belt.

I used these amazon chisels, they have been good chisels & I believe they are spaced at 4mm. They are a diamond chisel. I bought a high dollar set from tandy & they bent the 1st time I used them trying to stamp thru some thick leather.

Thanks I know i was using too thick of leather, but i had a itching to try my hand at making a wallet.

Yeah I know it was overkill on the leather selection, but it's all I had & I wanted to make a wallet to show off. It's like the duty belts I make, probably way overkill on the leather. But they should last & not stretch or sag.

Lmao I've been spending it on leather tools. I started 8 years ago with a amazon basic leather starter kit & trying now to buy some name brand stuff. The good stuff is way more expensive. Thank you, I'm not going to lie, I have good days & bad days when it comes to basket weave stamping.

I thought with this tool you could thin your leather to the thickness needed for a given project? Basically I thought with this tool you could thin say 10/12 OZ leather to 8/9 OZ leather? Will this tool do this? Or is there some other tool that I would need instead of this? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a amateur. Thanks.

Well guys & gals here is my 1st wallet. Its probably a bit overkill on the leather, but it's what I had on hand. The outside basket weave panel is 6/7 OZ, then all the inside panels are 3/4 OZ. It has 8 total card slots. It is all saddle stitched with 346 thread. What's your guys & gals thoughts. Thanks for looking.
