  1. Thanks kgg. I appreciate your time & knowledge. Yes I'm going to have a couple friends help with assembly. Who makes the best needles or what brand do you reccomend getting? I'll get extra bobbins as well when ordering. I'm sure I'll forget something & have to place another order.
  2. Thank you. You mentioned most of the people I watch & learn what I can from them. I will check out the couple I didnt know of & see what I can pick up from them. Also if you ever decide to start selling, I would love to have a carving of your covered bridge. Its soo nice & beautiful. I would consider that a piece of Art you carved. I'm really at a loss of words, it's just soo cool. Thanks for your time & knowledge.
  3. Guys & gals I think I have settled on purchasing a Cobra Class 4 Premium package. Is there any optional aftermarket accessories I need to purchase? What do you professionals recommend purchasing for supplies & maintenance care? I'm wanting to purchase everything I might need when I'm ordering. I like to use 207-346 thread when i saddle stitch by hand, so I'm planning on having the machine set up with 277 thread. Should i get some supplies for 138 thread for lighter projects? Also why does most people run a lighter thread on the bobbin side or bottom side of the machine? Is it due to thread capacity on the bobbins? Thanks. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
  4. Thanks. Do you teach online leather classes? Or do you got some websites to check out? I'm all up to learning some tips & tricks. I'm just now getting into carving. Been watching a lot of YouTube videos. Would you be willing to sell a carving like that? I would like to frame it & hang it on my wall in the house. Thanks & Just Beautiful work.
  5. That is really nice! Sweet work. I'm hoping I can be at that level of craftsmanship someday. Just stunning work. Thanks for sharing. Its beautiful.
  6. Yeah I've heard a lot of people tell me, you will know when your find a swivel knife setup that just clicks with you.
  7. That's Badazz! I love it! Awesome work!
  8. I think I will order one of them as well. 1/8" blade might be the ticket for these letters I want to carve.
  9. Ok thanks. I did just order me another swivel knife. I ordered it with a 1/4" angle blade & got a spare 1/4" hollow ground blade. It's a double bearing Zhong Jiang premium swivel knife made in Japan. Their stuff looks really high quality. Thanks I appreciate it.
  10. I'm thinking a submersion in evapo-rust bath & it will make it look new again. Would probably free it up to, if its locked up/ frozen. I would be willing to to try, since its priced right.
  11. Everybody I need some help in selecting a swivel knife blade for doing these 1"×1" letters. What type of blade do I need. 1/4" angle blade? 1/4" hollow ground blade? My swivel knives all have 3/8" blades now. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  12. Looks awesome! Great work!
  13. Yeah I fight that with a speedy stitcher. I always seem to end up with the knots on the back side. I pull tight! almost to the point of cutting your fingers with the thread. I'll saddle stitch these from here on out. Thanks.
  14. Thanks guys, I wish I would of saddle stitched it, instead of being lazy & using my speedy stitcher. Heres a couple more pics. Thanks for looking & commenting.
  15. Here is my 1st leather carving, just some letters for a key chain. I made this for my sister to get some practice with the swivel knife & to try my hand at carving. How bad is is it? It's got a few flaws. But I dont think it looks to bad.
  16. Looks great! What a beautiful piece of leather. Awesome work.
  17. Welcome to the group. Bunch of great people here.
  18. Beautiful work. Looks great! Could you school me on what a Norwegian stitch is? Thanks.
  19. Thanks I appreciate it. Great looking strap.
  20. Beautiful guitar strap. Looks great! Love the stitch work. How does that style of guitar strap fasten to the guitar? I've always wondered. Thanks.
  21. Very nice looking piece! Great work. Simple yet elegant looking.
  22. I have not checked anyone out yet as financing for a new machine. I do know I'm going to buy, either a Cowboy CB4500, a Cobra Class 4, or a Techsew 5100se for my 1st machine. I'm looking for a smaller machine & unsure which direction to go on the smaller machine. Thanks. I just need to call some people & see what they can offer me. For a smaller machine, I like the looks of the Weaver 303 or the Consew 206RB-5 machines.
  23. Yeah I'm just going to save my money for a Cobra Class 4 & buy once & cry once. I can afford a Cobra Class 4 in Feburary. I was also looking for a smaller machine, for smaller projects. I thought this machine might be good for that, but it's really not. I appreciate your time & help with this particular machine. Thanks.
  24. Thanks I appreciate it. I did find some good articles on leatherworker about it. It's a good old machine, but I'm thinking it's just not what I'm looking for. Sure is a pretty looking machine.
  25. Guys & gals I found a really nice old singer 29-4 in working condition. It's set up with 138 thread now. My couple questions are: Is this a good sewing machine? Can heavier thread sizes be used in it. Say a 277 thread or 346 thread? Could a servo motor setup be put on it reasonably? Are parts hard to find if needed? Hopefully some professionals can help me out & give me some answers. Thanks. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
