I wanted to share these dies weaver made for me. I thought they were fairly cheap.
But I had 4 made at once & they cut me a break on price.
They do make nice dies.
These at the time we're $68 each.
I thin my pro dye 50/50 with denatured alcohol.
I do this because of cost & as well to lighten the pro dye.
I think pro dye is too dark using it straight from the bottle.
I also lay my dyed projects flat on cardboard & put a fan on it for at least 24 hours.
Are you thinning your pro dye 50/50 or using it straight up out of the bottle.
Also instead of hanging your project, try laying it flat on some cardboard.
Also when you dip dye it takes a good 24hr or longer to fully dry.
Yeah I got 1 of the vevor's about a year ago. It does everything i need it to do.
I also had some custom dies made by weaver & i highly recommend them if ever looking for cutter dies.
@Coloradoguy I recommend buying a second blade for your splitter, then you got a blade that can be sent out to be sharpened & you won't be without a splitter blade while 1 is being sharpened.
I think your blade is not quite sharp enough. Plus if the blade is dull & you are taking a big bite/cut you are actually stretching the belt some & resulting thinner/thicker cuts on the sides of the belt.
That looks great. I need to make 1 similar, been thinking about buying me a Buck 112 automatic.
I might do a bit of wet molding on that sheath/sleeve if I do end up with a Buck 112 auto.
I would remove old ripped piece or not, then sew a piece of leather folded around the front & back, then use a oblong punch & punch a slot in it.
Then I would sew around the oblong hole you punched thru it to reinforce it all.
