  1. Guys & gals I buy quite a few veg tan sides every year. Usually 4-6 sides per year, What do you guys do with the bellies you cut off the sides? Most bellies I got are pretty soft & supple I'm curious what to make or do with them. What do you guy & gals do with them? Thanks.
  2. Thanks a bunch. Lol more stuff to buy. But that looks like high quality accessories. Yeah I'm going to buy all the aftermarket accessories that company offers. Their stuff looks better quality than what's ships with the machine.
  3. Yeah I never thought of stapling belt keepers. That would be way quicker. I always skivied the ends on a long taper & glued, then saddle stitched it.
  4. Yeah I'm glad I got a big pile of scrap leather, glad I did not toss my scraps. I'm sure I'm going to need lots of practice with the cobra class 4.
  5. Here is what you need. They offer 3 different attachment styles as well as 3 different finishes. You will have to make your stud attachment plate. Like I said, they make 3 different attachment styles. 1 style is threaded for a screw & the other to styles are a threaded stud style. Little suckers are expensive at $9 each.
  6. Yeah there is nothing that will replace a saddle stitch. It looks soo good when you nail it perfectly. Lol I still have a hiccup every once in a while saddle stitching. Lmao sometimes my stitch will have 1 or 2 stitches that change direction. I've read in a few places the Cobra class 4 likes to break a foot off of the presser feet occasionally. Idk how often or what caused it. Thanks I got time to think about things & research. As soon as New Year day gets over with. I'll be ordering the machine.
  7. No I havent tried sage brush yet. I've been using the minwax wood hardner/stabilizing liquid. After leaving it in that stuff for a week & then curing a block of wood, the wood doubles, or maybe triples in overall weight.
  8. Yep as others had mentioned. Reverse engineer that sucker by taking it apart & use it as a pattern. Dont skimp on your seat foam padding. Good seat foam will probably cost $40-$60 for a 18" x 18" square.
  9. Thanks I appreciate it. Yeah I got to get a vaccum pump for stabilizing wood for my knife handles. I might just get a Vacuum press bag for holsters at it while I'm ordering. Awesome work.
  10. Nice looking holsters. Awesome work. Do you hand form or vacuum form your holsters. Thanks for sharing them.
  11. Thanks for the info. Yeah I was watching a guy use his Cobra Class 4 & got oil on his gun belt he was making. Needless to say he was pissed. He forgot to wipe the machine down before using it. Yeah the reason I keep inquiring about the narrow throat plate & such, so I have the ability to sew the thinner stuff on a bigger sewing machine if the occasion arises.
  12. Thanks. I appreciate the help. What differences or features does these plates & feet have over each other. What's the differences from RockyAussie accessories versus Patrick1 accessories? What does 1 offer over the other? If any? I'm new to machines & trying to figure out what I all need to purchase for the projects that might come up. I'm willing to buy both them guys/manufacturers accessories if both are needed. Thanks for the help.
  13. Where & who sells a narrow throat plate, feed dog, & presser foot for the Cobra Class 4? I would like to be able to sew thinner materials when the time comes. I would like to be able to sew canvas & soft leathers with the Cobra Class 4. Thanks. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
  14. Thanks for the info. I appreciate your time. So is a narrow throat plate offered for the Cobra Class 4? If so who do I order it from? I have used clothing type sewing machines, but it was years ago. I've been watching some videos on the Cobra Class 4 machine & it seems to be a nice machine, watching the guys using it.
  15. Thanks kgg. I appreciate your time & knowledge. Yes I'm going to have a couple friends help with assembly. Who makes the best needles or what brand do you reccomend getting? I'll get extra bobbins as well when ordering. I'm sure I'll forget something & have to place another order.
  16. Thank you. You mentioned most of the people I watch & learn what I can from them. I will check out the couple I didnt know of & see what I can pick up from them. Also if you ever decide to start selling, I would love to have a carving of your covered bridge. Its soo nice & beautiful. I would consider that a piece of Art you carved. I'm really at a loss of words, it's just soo cool. Thanks for your time & knowledge.
  17. Guys & gals I think I have settled on purchasing a Cobra Class 4 Premium package. Is there any optional aftermarket accessories I need to purchase? What do you professionals recommend purchasing for supplies & maintenance care? I'm wanting to purchase everything I might need when I'm ordering. I like to use 207-346 thread when i saddle stitch by hand, so I'm planning on having the machine set up with 277 thread. Should i get some supplies for 138 thread for lighter projects? Also why does most people run a lighter thread on the bobbin side or bottom side of the machine? Is it due to thread capacity on the bobbins? Thanks. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated.
  18. Thanks. Do you teach online leather classes? Or do you got some websites to check out? I'm all up to learning some tips & tricks. I'm just now getting into carving. Been watching a lot of YouTube videos. Would you be willing to sell a carving like that? I would like to frame it & hang it on my wall in the house. Thanks & Just Beautiful work.
  19. That is really nice! Sweet work. I'm hoping I can be at that level of craftsmanship someday. Just stunning work. Thanks for sharing. Its beautiful.
  20. Yeah I've heard a lot of people tell me, you will know when your find a swivel knife setup that just clicks with you.
  21. That's Badazz! I love it! Awesome work!
  22. I think I will order one of them as well. 1/8" blade might be the ticket for these letters I want to carve.
  23. Ok thanks. I did just order me another swivel knife. I ordered it with a 1/4" angle blade & got a spare 1/4" hollow ground blade. It's a double bearing Zhong Jiang premium swivel knife made in Japan. Their stuff looks really high quality. Thanks I appreciate it.
  24. I'm thinking a submersion in evapo-rust bath & it will make it look new again. Would probably free it up to, if its locked up/ frozen. I would be willing to to try, since its priced right.
  25. Everybody I need some help in selecting a swivel knife blade for doing these 1"×1" letters. What type of blade do I need. 1/4" angle blade? 1/4" hollow ground blade? My swivel knives all have 3/8" blades now. Any & all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
