  1. in the dying process is anyone applying NFO before alcohal dye? does it work?
  2. O would not use a snap as it does not fit the shape of the pen. I would sew a leather strap across, also I would allow my top and bottom to be larger than needed then trim when sewing is complete also wet forming would look very hansome !
  3. Thank you very much. my little machine is maxed out at 138/160. I can use it in making cartridge holders but for stitching in p[lain view to me it looks small.. some one recommended I look at the artisan Toro 3000 at $2400.00 I found the techsew 3650 at about half the price ! any thoughts
  4. I am new to machine sewing and am wondering if there is a comon or standard size of thread / needle for machine work, Thanks Bo
  5. I understand you were refering to a awl that carries the thread as well I was thinking of an awl used to punch the hole while saddle stitching I am clear ! keep up the great work
  6. who told you not to use a stiching awl and why? your work looks very nice. I might suggest easing the edges of straps curved of sort, but is square was what you were aiming for you nailed it ! All the very Best
  7. I am inspired by many other leather artisans I I do not copy work of others I do incorporate some details I sure hope I have not offeded anyone here !

  10. beautiful love the colors
  11. in another industry I do custom work my product has nothing to compare other than length, so I price my products fairly and they are not what everyone wants,, make a wallet or two and put them in the market ! time will tell
  12. the way I did the d ring was a bit of a painI sewed rge edge stitching, then skived the strap that was sewn and glued in place it would have been easyer to have in come out of the edge but I was looking for balance next to the strap,, also I made mine a bit longer so the cards can lay long-ways,, with four pcs of leather its a bit to fold but should break in well !
  13. I have been fooling with a few ideas as well but I like yours much better I'd add a "D" ring and a strap closer so a chain could be added as an option ! very nice work,, is that hand or machine stitched if machine what model !. I have a mini brute and it always looks like the needle is too large for the thread !
  14. agree with all the above comments and I may offer a fix to the flap.. make a paper patterm with mitred corners and sew it right on the flap you have it will not look like an afterthough ,
  15. Wow you knocked that one out of the park I love it ! esp the detail shape in the corners,, what is the over all size !!!!!
  16. I just posted the very same can you post your thoughts thanks
  17. tech sew 3650 HD ( fat finger struck the 9 key in the title) Does anyone use this machine? might be ready to up-grade soon and I am looking for reviews in this price range
  18. Thanks Bill truth be know,, being a boat builder,, my shop is not far from the house I have about 150 pair in stock all the time,, age makes me forget,, but I will grab some ,, and your point about being absorbed is really very important as this stuff is stored in our livers !!! I shouild not set such a bad excample
  19. I have been very happy with the wallet and have already thought of a few inprovements, I added a front packet peice to carry cel phone, drivers lic. a few credit cards and some folding money,, I was in a rush to get it done and dyed it over the white saddle stitching,, my plan is now it worked out cut the stitching out and make a "master" size adj. pattern , then re sew it! and I have yet to address the edges they too are unacceptable!! I hate it when I hurry!
