I found this image on Pinterest and the link led me to the Leatherworker forum. I expect that the stamping and carving belongs to someone here on the forum but I don't know very many crafts people here who I could maybe match up their work styles to this one. Any ideas on who did this very good looking work, I wanted to pick their brain with a few questions .....

Hello all! Here is a roper wallet (or long wallet) that I just finished for myself. Btw, my nickname is Nate in case you're confused. I needed to make myself a wallet so I could have some of my work with me when meeting potential customers. Also, my Cabela's wallet was falling apart. It is lined with Tandy's super soft pigskin. When I showed it to my dad, he said I should have stamped "A fool and his money are soon parted" on the inside flap... (I think I should have done that too considering how often I go to Tandy... ) Let me know what you think! Comments/critique always welcome. Thanks for looking! -Ryan

Here is another one I finished up for a customer. Simple basket weave. Wickett Craig russet 4/5 oz outer, a nice finished chrome tan dark cherry color 2/3oz inner. Painted edges due to crome tan. Lined with pig skin. As always, all comments critiques are welcome

Wellp, I was 50/50 on the whole mop and glo as a finish/resist... But darnit if it doesn't work great haha. I recently invested in a cheap harbor freight airbrush kit and decided last night to try it out to put the resist on this photo album cover. Not only did it work like a dream, but dried super fast. I was able to antique it 30 mins later! Crazy. Anywho, let me know what y'all think. before antique After antique

My dad's birthday is coming up so I made him a portfolio to use on the job or wherever he may need it. It's 7/8 oz leather with 3/4 oz lining. It has a poster board stiffener to keep it from stretching while tooling, and a beveled mat board stiffener for added rigidity. The letters are carved inverted and everything is hand stitched. Hope you enjoy and thanks for taking a look.

Made a padded camera strap for my wife this Christmas. I believe the thickness is 6-7 oz veg tan and lined with glazed pig skin. Stuffed with stuffing and all hand stitched which wore me out!

Hi, this is my first post and my first attempt at a laptop sleeve! I made this laptop sleeve, one side floral, one side basket weave with a brand. I realize the floral is too small for the side it is on, but I didn't want to go too far off pattern free hand (I am not nearly that experienced). After doing this I realize I need to get a better swivel knife and a better basket weave stamp. My roomie upstairs was not happy with my banging away on all those stamps! -Leather was 7-8 oz euro side from tandy. -Saddle tan gel antique -Resist with Eco Flo Top Finish Gloss -Double sided rivets I appreciate any advice you all might have! Or tips and tricks for next time. Thanks for looking. Lane (AB, Canada)

Hey guys I'm still pretty new at this, but I'm getting frustrated with my projects turning out mediocre. Right now I'm working on a roper wallet for my brothers birthday so I want it to look really good. Most of the outer part is basket weave stamped and I got about halfway through before I got fed up with the leather warping and the stamping seemingly fading away. I'm hitting the stamp about 4 or 5 times with a mallet on a concrete floor. The flesh side of the leather is bumpy where the stamp hits and I think that these bumps being pushed in is what is making the stamping lose definition. It's an almost brand new stamp from Tandy. I can't think of what I could be doing wrong besides not casing my leather correctly (I followed Bob's method from this website). Did I not let the leather dry out enough before stamping? Or am I just not capable of making something look professional? Any help is highly appreciated, I've learned everything I knowfrom you guys! Thanks in advance!

Hello all! Been working away at home, just thought I'd post some work I've done for friends and family ordered for Christmas. Comments, critiques and advice are welcom. My Grandmother asked me to make a belt for her husband, and gave no further instruction, other than it had to be no wider than an inch and a quarter. I'm still new to leatherwork so I decided to go for a plain finish of nothing but neatsfoot oil. Don't know how it will hold up, if anything goes wrong I'll just have another project on my hands. : ) This is a closeup of *ahem* a tractor, with a little bit of doodly stuff behind it. The rest has a basketweave pattern and his initials, HM are at the tip. I finished the edge with gum trag. This one is for a friends' brother. I treated it with vinegaroon and after the rinse cycle, tooled it the next day. Does anyone have advice for tooling/vinegaroon? I thought about tooling first and rooning later, but I can't see how soaking tooled leather would be a good idea. I just find that the leather is a little more difficult to tool than normal after the vinegaroon process. He wanted an arrowhead pattern with his brother's name centered on the back. I finished this one with neatsfoot as well. I read hidepounder's PDF(thanks for that!) on finishing edges and tried to adhere to his method as best I could with what I had. As I said I appreciate all comments and advice! God bless, and have a Merry Christmas!

I'm new here since August. This is a belt I made for my wife.

Just got my first sheath done. It was an extremely last minute Christmas order. Normally I would have said no, but a friend was really wanting it done. He didn't even expect me to make it in time like I told him I would. So, this has 8 oz front, back, and welt with a 5 oz backing to the lizard and a another guard spacer. That's one thick piece of leather. Did kangaroo basketweave too so it would cover the edges better, but that was a real pain getting through that thick chunk of leather two times per hole (not counting the bottom corner). Let me know what you think. I'll even take some criticism since it's the holidays There's a couple things I wish I could have taken some more time on, but all in all he really loved it and I'm proud of it.
