Hi everyone, Newbie to this forum here : ) I wonder if anyone here has experience with the Texi brand cylinder bed machines, and with the Texi Ram C specifically. Is that a clone of some other high end machine? I have a start-up (we're established in Sweden) and I'd could use some advice on a good and reasonably priced (up to 1700 euro) machine for bag making. We are leaning towards the Texi model named above, but I cannot seem to find any reviews on it nor any information on the maximum thread thickness possible. Also, we plan on using the Polycotton and the Unwaxed Linen threads (both of which can be used on sewing machines) from the french brand Fil au Chinois. Here's the link to where you can buy them and see the different sizes: https://sajou.fr/en/1819-unwaxed-twisted-matt-linen-thread-12-3-fil-au-chinois Does any of you have experience using these threads on sewing machines, and which sizes and kinds have you used in that case? I'm having hard times figuring out if the thickest Polycotton (0,52mm in diameter) and the thinnest unwaxed lined (0,75mm) will work for the machine above - and if not, what is the actual maximum thread diameter (in millimeters) for this machine and the ones the like? Also, does anyone have a conversion chart for this thing in particular, the thread number in tex for example and the actual thread diameter? I have by now returned several orders with some different kinds of Fil au Chinois threads because compared to the good old Gütermann linen thread (there's only one kind, that I know of anyways, see the link below) they just seemed uncomparingly thin, despite being advertised as significantly thicker in diameter. https://consumer.guetermann.com/en/products/linen-thread/ Do the Fil au Chinois usually run thinner than what they are supposed to be? For anyone who can help, the Gütermann linen is a good reference for the thinnest thickness considered for our bags. Grateful for all tips and insights : ) Grace

Hello everyone I graduated from a leather course where I've used the Durkopp Adler 669 cylinder arm machine. I am looking for a machine that can be comparable to that, but preferably cheaper. I'm making small leather handbags - it needs to have a cylinder arm. I would like to make belts and wallets as well. I would say I need something that sews through medium thickness, is simple and can sew slowly and precisely when needed. I am looking at the Consew Model 277R-3 and PFAFF 335 and Techsew 2600 Pro models at the moment, but I am also open to find a model that is used or just an old type, but not too sure which brands are the most reliable. Thanks for your help in advance Blanka from Montréal

Hi , I was looking at buying a cylinder arm machine for edge binding and bag closing . Just wanted to understand the benefits of a synchronised binder vs a non synchronised swing away binder . Will the non synchronised version do just as good job ? My preference would be to have one machine such as a Seiko lcw 8 bl that I can use to close bags which also has a binder attachment for finishing the seams . Or is it worth having a dedicated synchronised binder such as a pfaff 335 , thanks for you help

I've been using my Juki 1541 W for gusset sewing, and though I've muscled through, I'd love to start working on a cylinder arm to make corners easier. What are people's favorite machines to look out for? I've been combing through facebook and other formums to find something used. It'll be my first one so I'd rather not pay for something brand new while I get adjusted. I generally use 3-4oz leather and mostly for bags, always veg tanned. Thanks! (or if anyone has tips on making gusset sewing easier on a juki, I'm all ears!)
