  2. Here's a nice 400 Line Finisher. I'm ready to move it out. I had posted a few months ago but I didn't have my Sutton ready yet. This has been in daily use for 30 years. Very nice old machine. I have to keep the numkeg however. Sanding wheels are all in good shape. Blower is strong, 220V. Comes with some trimmers and edge irons. Great for all kinds of leather finishing, not just shoes. Selling for $850. I can deliver up to 200 miles from 65041. Keep in mind it's long and heavy if you're coming to get it.

  7. Hey all, I'm experiencing a problem with my Fiebing black dye. Often I get asked to make projects where people want my tooling to be painted black, with a bg that requires a antique or other overall color. Though when I apply the fiebings black dye first, it looks very good, until I apply an antique, other dye or even finisher. As soon as I try to do anything else with my leather afterwards, it seems most of the black dye just comes off again, only leaving a faint black grainy pattern (as if the dye has worn off due to excessive use of the product over several years). I do wait at least 24 hours after applying the black dye before doing anything else. I have tried applying the black as last to prevent this, but then it doesn't seem to dye completely, since I can still see the underlying color coming through (I've experienced this especially in combination with the red dye) and I'm afraid it will rub of on peoples clothing and such because I did not use a finisher over the black. Does anybody know why this happens or have a solution? I'm aware of vinegaroon, but here it's actually kind of hard to get by nails that rust easily (they only sell galvanized in all the dutch hardware stores), and in my experience my batch that has been rusting for 6 months now still needs multiple coats to get a nice black look (and is a bit harder to work into details then the regular dyes). Thanks in advance!
  8. Okay, I have quite a few questions in regards to sealants/finishes for acrylic paint! What would you consider to be the most durable sealant/finish to go over acrylic paint on an item that will be used outdoors and must withstand a lot use? Is there a certain sealant you put on the paint prior to using the finish? I've heard that Resolene is the best to use, is that true? If so, how many 50/50 coats do you put on the item? How many coats of sealant prior to Resolene? Thank you for your time!

  10. Line Finisher For Sale This is part of the machinery and equipment that came out of the Safety Speed Holster factory, in Bullhead, AZ. This is one of the machines Safety Speed used for burnishing their edges. I know that they used Tip Top Finishing Wax originally to finish their edges, but the company that produced it it long since closed it's doors. After that they had Hauthaway analyze and reproduce the wax for them. I am in talks with Hauthaway about producing this again, and I should have it available for purchase soon, in black, neutral, some browns and some burgundy/cordovan shades as well. All depends on what their minimum orders are. I will post as soon as I have them available. I cannot find any marking for what brand it is, but it is probably Landis, Champion or American. This comes complete with 1.5 horsepower motor, drive belts, 1 sanding wheel and 2 sanding cylinders, one buffing/polishing wheel, 2 edge burnishing wheels, dust collection fan and ducting, upper shelf. I will change one of the edge burnishing wheels out for another sanding wheel if you prefer. This machine can be used for sole sanding, edge sanding and profiling, buffing and polishing, edge burnishing, flesh side burnishing and many other processes. Attachments wheels, abrasives and other supplies for this machine are available from several sources including: United Global Supply, Saderma, Landis International, Shoe Systems Plus, Pilgrim Shoe Machine Specifications: Motor: Baldor 1.5 Horse Power 1725 RPM 115volt or 230 volt (currently wired for 115 volt) Frame Dimmensions: 49" tall (64 1/2" with the shelf) 26" wide 62" long (68" with dust collector vent) Shelf: 59"x12" Shaft: 1 5/16" diameter 66" long Mounted on 3 roller bearings with grease fittings Weight: Approximately 400 pounds I am having multi-grooved burnishing cylinders produced for 1 5/16" shaft finishers now. they will function like the Weaver Edge Burnishers, but will need to be wrapped in canvas per Bobby/HidePounder's suggestion, as they are truned from steel instead of wood. I am waiting to hear back from the machinist before I can quote a price. The first batch should be ready any day now. Shipping: Due to the size and weight of this item, Local Pick Up, or Freight Service only. I can also deliver it within Southern California for a fee, which will vary depending upon how far you are from Wildomar/Lake Elsinore/Temecula area. All freight arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer There is no loading dock or forklift available, so be sure that your freight carrier has a lift gate. Asking price $800
