Just looked at some 8-9 oz black CXL sides (18 sq ft average) at The Tannery Row. $260/side Most economical shipping cost: $94 (ouch!) for up to 3 sides to ship to southern California. No tax though. Joseph

I’m making a project for myself. Whenever I do I want to get the best and get exactly what I want so that when I’m done I’m happy with what I’ve made for myself. A spool of this carriage hemp hand sewing thread is like 30 bucks!! That’s bonkers! I’ve got plenty of flat nylon thread, and it’s not the material that I don’t like. It’s the shape. When I hand stitch with flat thread it twists or folds over on itself and never looks the same thickness along the stitches. I mean, unless you get out your magnifying glass and look at these millimeter sized stitches you won’t notice, but I can see it and I know it’s there, making faces at me. So I figure if I get a higher quality round thread it will look perfectly uniform and even all the way along. But would it be worth the expense? The thick, round, cord-like sewing thread looks so nice. Not huge, but visible enough to show off your nice handiwork. Is there a reliably less expensive alternative than a $30 spool of thread? Like heavy duty upholstery thread or something else that will look nice on leather? What have you used?

Be sure to read the new user agreement if your in the US and use PayPal. Hiking fees again, looks like only for US sellers. They also added some more not good things to help themselves out again. Sincerely paypal

I have such a hard time pricing my leather projects. I try to consider cost of leather, stain, hardware, and time...I'm terrible at this. I find myself always selling items too cheap. Any help on a standard way of pricing would be great full. For example, I'm attaching a pic of a gun sling...what would you sell this for? Also, this site won't let me upload pic without cropping them to a smaller size...There are better pictures of this sling in my gallery if that helps...Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to working with leather and about to start my first project. I'm trying to do some costing on a pair of shoes I want to make to figuire out what the exact input cost will be. This is what I have in mind (see below). How many pairs of shoes can one make on average with a piece of leather 1 meter by 1 meter (3.2 foot by 3.2 foot). Any guidance will be much appreciated

Hi all, I am in need of some advice regarding tagging leather goods. I am producing 1.75 in. leather discs that have designs pressed into them for use as award medallions in a historic re-enactment group I belong to. they do not have holes in them anywhere, and I need to be able to put a tag for inventory and pricing purposes on them, but don't want to use something that's going to leave a lot of gum behind on it... table space is usually limited, and I already have standing cases with other goods in them, so bagging them isn't the best options. I use a modified set of slant wire shelves to display them with a hanging display above, or have them in the open organizer boxes with the lids off so people can see them when I can. it wouldn't be a big deal for just a few, but I have more than 100 different designs now, and keeping track is a pain. Any recommendations on tagging these or other types of small leather goods like this? Greatly appreciate any advice from folks that have been at it at while... Thanks, Vince Woodard

Hi all! Like many here before me, long time lurker coming out the shadows. Great community/ forum here! Lots of great info and advice! Now to the matter at hand: I recently bought small quantities of Ritza 25 (wich I haven't recieved yet) at what I think is a fair price (compared to other offerings out there). Small quantities seem to suit my needs better for now since I'm just starting out but in the long run, having to pay extra for smaller bits AND pay for shipping for every single transaction might end up costing me an arm and leg. So, this got me thinking of full spools. Harder to find but got a hold of someone selling some at what I once again think is a fair price. Thing is, I have absolutely no idea what those go for - I can't seem to find the 'retail price' anywhere -, so my idea of what's fair and what's not might be pretty far from reality. Any of you ritza 25 users care to give me a idea of what it could be worth?

I am looking at buying some kangaroo skins. I've heard Packer has good prices but since they don't post online what their current prices are I have no clue and I don't want to place an order just to find out. Can anyone help me out here with what current prices are for their whip grade roo skins? I also noticed their specials and how cheap they were, does anyone have experience with buying these? Do you get to choose what you buy? I make adult toys like floggers, cats, and crops so most of the skins would be turned into lace.
