Lil Something!

Recommended Posts

Nothing much, but a lil something off the bench. Its what I'm calling a Minimalists money clip wallet.

Learned a couple things on this 1, but I believe it turned out fine.

Wished I would of stitched it all the way around. Next one I make will be calfskin lined, for sure.

Heres a couple pics. Let me know your thoughts.

Looks very good. Clean and uncomplicated. Bills in the clip and ID or cards in the sides. Thumbs-up to this one. The only thing I would have done different is to run the stitching all the way around so there's no break in it at the top and bottom of the fold. That's not right or wrong, merely preference. It's great the way it is.

I like the oval windows and the basket weave on it.

Yeah it always seems you learn a wealth of information/tips after you make your 1st one.

It was also setup with a 3mm stitch, but I changed it to 5mm stitching. You can see it in the corners.

I'm over happy being the 1st one.

Thanks for the encouragement & advice.

Think you did great. Stitching all the way around would add to it I believe. But, cool either way.

I think it looks fantastic.  Yes, you probably should have stitched all the way around, but that's a minor thing. Since you did cut the groove all the way around, you could probably go back and add the rest of the stitching if you were so inclined.  In all this gives me some ideas for some wallets for my kids.  If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the clip from?

Thanks for the kind words. Them spring money clips I got thru Tandy, but I think Weaver, & bunch of other manufacturers carry them.

As of now I cant tell you how durable they are, but the Tandy clips look well made for what they are.

I've had a couple friends give me a couple ideas, in using them in a different style wallet. So I might see what else I can come up with.

I'm no master leather crafter, but getting better.

But one little piece of advice I would like to share about securing the spring clip. Cover it with lighter leather than 4-5oz leather. I will use 2-3oz leather on the next one to cover the spring clip.
