Members shoepatcher Posted October 4, 2024 Members Report Posted October 4, 2024 A whine at high speed might indicate a bearing going bad. I would oil the snot out it, let it set for 24 hours and then try it again. There may be an area that was missed when oiling so check the manual. Should be the same as a Singer 111W155. glenn Quote
Members Constabulary Posted October 4, 2024 Members Report Posted October 4, 2024 Maybe its the hook driving gear. Maybe a lack of oil? I´d oil the machine generously. Check the manual for that. Members fibersport Posted October 4, 2024 Members Report Posted October 4, 2024 I'm going to suggest looking at anything that rotates, any excessive clearance will make that type of sound on other mechanical things. Have you looked for excessive backlash in the gears underneath - and I'm assuming the Juki's ahve gears. Quote
AlZilla Posted October 4, 2024 Report Posted October 4, 2024 We'll often use a stick as a stethoscope when trying to isolate strange sounds on a piece of running equipment. Maybe a dowel rod to your ear and touch different areas of the machine? Possibly you could at least track it down to left/right/top/bottom ... Put the tip of the screwdriver on the suspect area & put you ear on the end of the plastic handle. Quote

Can also use a piece of hose to help determine where the sound is coming from. Hold one end to your ear and mover the other end around to find the vicinity of the source noise. Direction finder! Then use the dowel or screw diver or stethoscope to hear the noise with more 'detail' or 'clarity'. I expected 'higher pitch' to be more of a high pitched squeal, but from your video, not high pitched, but changes with speed. I'd be checking the lash on the hook gear set. Quote

Is is possible to adjust the lash on the hook gear set on this machine? Quote
