Does anybody have experiance with this machine. The comprehensive list says it's an independent upper/lower feed,which can be disengaged. What kind of upper feed does it have?

It has a foot that lifts up as the needle goes in the material & then comes down as the needle pulls out & then it swings back with the lower feed dog,it also should have a large heavy wheel & sews easy 1/2" thick.

45K53 Industrial Independent upper and lower feeds - either suspendable. Speed 500. For general saddlery, footballs, bags. etc. (12/49) 214x4 and 214x12 and 214x22

I pulled this from Singer ISMAC's comprehensive list. Are presser feet available for this,and are any other parts in general available.

The only parts you can get are the needles,bobbins & shuttle.

I am working with some kids to teach basics. Belts are the easiest thing which they can sell handily for a small markup and replenish their supplies and put some money in their pockets Trying to teach a little Biz sense.

For stitching I have a GA5, drop feed ,45K clone I let them use.The problem is being drop feed,you need experience ,and a feel to get consistent results with it. I was thinking the 45K53 with the upper, lower feed would be a little more fool proof, i can pick it up reasonably,ad a servo and good to go.Also a 100 yr old machine would ad a little nostalgia to their learning experience.

There is virtually nothing out there for info on the K53

Well,I purchased this machine. The seller knew nothing about it,it was her husbands,and had been in storage for 10 years.When it was put in storage it was lubrcated well.It does sew,by hand,and is really in excellent condition.Has a clutch motor.

A couple of hundred bucks ,one of those had to have,and the owner threw in a couple of sides of saddle skirt.

The feed system is as Bob described,no marking at all.

Would anyone have any manuals on this machine,seems to be very rare

I found this video of a 45K58 flatbed. The feed is the same as the 45K53 ,is that the flatbed version of the K53

Thanks Geneva,got that one. I can find K52,k54 Hendersons manuals in the Uk. It looks similar to the K56 cylinder/K58 Flatbed

The feed mechanism is different to the 45k58 flat bed

I do not have a parts list for the 45k53 but if it takes the same feed dog as the 45k25 then I have some nice new ones.

The feed dogs and needle plate look unique to the machine,the presser looks the same as a 45K58

looking for Presser Foot for 45K53.The machine I purchased has one,would like a few I could modify left/Right.Constabulary had some Adler pcs for sale which would have fit,but those are sold.Any Ideas would be appreciated,before I spend a weekend on the Bridgeport.

Hi Frankqv,

Finding parts for the 45K machines is a challenge for sure. I'm pulling my hair out looking for a right presser foot and other parts for my 45K25.

If you're going to make presser feet, would you want some additional work?

If i make a few I will rough out some Blanks for the K53 and finish them as I need them.I'll let you know if I decide to do that.To those that are considerably more Knowledgeable than me,would it be possible to machine a new presser bar,and finish the end to take more common pressers?
