alpha2 Posted March 11, 2017 Report Posted March 11, 2017 Or, put a couple of layers of resist on the letters, then just stain/dye the rest of the piece. Quote

Paint the letters the color of your choice and then seal them with your resist of choice. Everyone has their favorites, mine is liquitex varnishes, either matt or satin depending on the finish you want. After you seal the letters you can then dye the rest of the leather and if your resist does its job the dye will just wipe off the painted letters. If your not looking for an actual different color letter, like red on black, you can use an antique dye that highlight all stamping, toolings, cuts, etc. Quote
Members BJP Posted March 13, 2017 Members Report Posted March 13, 2017 I use a proper sized brush and multiple THIN coats of acrylic paint. I use heavy body "Golden" acrylics sealed with thinned acrylic sealer Quote
Members BlandStudios Posted July 14, 2018 Members Report Posted July 14, 2018 Mark842, can I use Fiebing's Pro Dye after painting letters with Angelus paints? I will be happy to buy liquitex varnishes if you had success as a resist over Angelus paint, then applying dyes. Thank you! Quote
