Members venator Posted April 21, 2017 Members Report Posted April 21, 2017 I made a biker whip today, my first real try braiding around a core. Quote
Members motocouture Posted April 21, 2017 Members Report Posted April 21, 2017 Nice work! What did you use as a core? Quote
alpha2 Posted April 21, 2017 Report Posted April 21, 2017 I did NOT know that bikers needed this. Nice job, though! Quote

However in the future I'd like to make them with a larger diameter so I think I'll have to move up to a 4 or 6 plait braid. The 4 plait gets a little thin when my lace is only 5mm. Quote
Members Tugadude Posted April 22, 2017 Members Report Posted April 22, 2017 Just google biker whip and you can learn the history. It is often called a "get back". Quote
Members motocouture Posted April 22, 2017 Members Report Posted April 22, 2017 I think a 6-strand braid would work nicely, especially since it could get potentially get a lot of exposure to the elements Quote

Adding two more strips really increases that. Quote

Members Mattsbagger Posted April 23, 2017 Members Report Posted April 23, 2017 It's called a get back. They are generally clipped to the brake handle around here. There are a lot of clubs around here.lol Quote
Members Stetson912 Posted April 23, 2017 Members Report Posted April 23, 2017 Very cool. I've never seen a leather one. The ones I see are made out of paracord. But that's just because I frequent paracord pages n such. The benefit to leather is that you can size your strands according to your core. Whereas paracord you can't. Just start out slow and you build up to more and finer strands. I'd try 6 or 8 next, then maybe 12 or 16 hehe looks awesome to me Quote
