Ok maybe I'm just dumb. How is that glue not seeking it's own level? To me it looks like it would just spill right over the dispensing side?

I hear you on that. I must admit, I was skeptical at first and filled it in the kitchen over the sink. I’m sure someone with a far better knowledge of plumbing and physics will chime in, but I can confirm that it stays exactly at the same ~1/2 in deep level. German engineering....

@bikermutt07I believe they work the same way as the self filling water bowls you can get for your fur-buddy.

The reservoir is upside down and a little higher than the smaller bowl/dish that fills with glue. (This height determines the fill level of the glue in the smaller bowl section) When the smaller area fills to the point where it's level meets the bottom of the reservoir it becomes an airtight system. The air inside the reservoir is pushing down on the glue with equal pressure to the atmospheric pressure pushing down on the glue/fluid in the smaller vessel. The system will stay at equilibrium until glue is used, then air is allowed to travel into the reservoir displacing glue until the system balances again.

Just don't poke a hole in the  reservoir....(not that out would) You'll get glue everywhere! Haha.

So, the big round spot on the reservoir isn't an open hole? That's what it looks like in the pictures. And you fill it where you dip your brush?

I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with.

Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day.

From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

The big round spot is a placed to put the "cap" when you're dipping into the glue. Stetson the physicist is right.

So much leather...so little time.

Thanks @Stetson912, figured there was someone out there who could explain it better than me!

Lol, just needing out is all haha. That round spot on top did look like a hole at first to me too. But I realised it was something else and just didn't know what. Thanks to alpha2, I now know what that is for haha. Learn something new each day.

I had one of these, didn't work for a hoot.  Promptly turned into a block of Barge with a brush protruding from it.  Waste of $ for me sadly.  Which is frustrating when I see others using them with glee!

And now I know. Doesn't seem that long ago when I was stumped by these little guys.

And look at me now, I know how to use a glue bottle. I'm just improving by leaps and bounds.:rolleyes2:

Sorry to hear that! I must admit, I don’t leave any brushes in them, and now I know about the Barge!

Meanwhile, managed to squeeze some work in today. Attached and stitched the straps to the back of the clutch. Took a photo of the inside to show where I’ve included some extra reinforcement behind the hardware, straps and mouth of the clutch. Kinda winging it, but the outer is fairly stiff, so I don’t think I’ll need a lot. Also installed the hardware on the front flap, ahead of gluing the lining in.
