Members D2G Posted May 19, 2018 Members Report Posted May 19, 2018 Hello world!! Why did these wrinkles come out? Too much dye or too resolene, or not treat the leather before dyeing? Leather is cow vegetable. Cheers!! Quote

Northmount Posted May 19, 2018 Report Posted May 19, 2018 Looks like it was folded/bent tight towards the flesh side. That stretches the grain side, and when released, wrinkles the grain side. Tom Quote

Moderator immiketoo Posted May 19, 2018 Moderator Report Posted May 19, 2018 Yep, some parts of the hide are looser than others and this happens. Not much can be done about it. You'll learn to recognize it in the future. It's usually softer than the rest of the hide, and when you edge it, all kinds of odd things happen. Quote

Give it a good soaking in near boiling water for a few minutes then dry rapidly. The leather will contract, but it'll also harden a bit so you'll need to put some neetsfoot oil or leather conditioner on it right after Edited May 19, 2018 by fredk Quote
Members D2G Posted May 20, 2018 Author Members Report Posted May 20, 2018 So, is it because the skin is rolled up with the good part out side? I'll stretch it all flat and cover it to avoid dirt, but not before without rolled it some days with the good part inwards. I know that is being part of the neck of the cow is more prone to wrinkling. I'll probe hot water. Thanks to all! Quote
