That flask looks great and I really like your picture of Duncan Reynaldo - many on this forum probably do not remember “Cisco and Pancho!”   Brings back good memories for me.

I used 8 ounce leather - which is difficult to wet mold. It takes a while to adapt it to the shape of the mold.

Thank you for the answer. 8 oz is indeed quite heavy/thick. I suppose I would have used about 5 oz / 2.2mm

I'm torn between admiring the pure functionality and simplicity of the stopper and thinking it would be a good place to add some decorative carving.

Nice flask! Would you mind providing some details on the aquarium paint? I seal my tankards and mugs with beeswax but am always looking for alternatives.
