Big changes around here

Recommended Posts

Ten years ago this was one of the most active forums on-line, lots of new posts every day. Now it seems like very little is going on here.

I know that I have retired. Has everyone else retired also?

Lobo, you mean you've retired from leather work? Because, for most of us, retiring means we have MORE time to devote to leatherwork!

I see new people coming on here all the time. It's still a great place to learn!

Still busy.  Just don't post as much stuff here as I used too.  I'll jump pack on occasionally.  And my real job has picked up so not as much time for this kind of stuff other than just browsing.

I can't speak to 10 years ago, but the advent of Facebook groups has had an impact on all of the forums I belonged to.  Leatherworker.net has survived and fared far better than any of the other forums I belong to, especially the automotive ones.  Those places are ghost towns anymore.  We are in control of how things happen here and I will keep working to keep the forum alive and well!

I just spent the last year in the hell of paramedic school but now that I'm done you should be seeing me around a lot more.

I wasn't interested 10 years ago but right now I would say this is a large active and healthy forum.  I belong to a couple that are pretty small, sometimes with days between new posts.  I do what I can with the ones I'm on to contribute to the discussion.  I really don't want to see the forum format get killed off by the likes of Facebook.  Forums have a huge advantage in building up large, easily accessible archives of good information.  I don't like the "right now" type of format that Facebook uses.

Anything that goes to Fakebook loses me. I've tried it twice for different reasons, and happily left each time.

This forum, however, rocks!

I started one a month ago and am still super resistant to it. I just can't seem to embrace it.
