I made a belt for my son for Christmas.

Vegtan about 3.0mm thick X 25mm wide, neatsfoot oil then several coats of mahogany antique to get the colour I wanted then finished with Tan Kote, buckle is a Western set from Birdsall Leather.

Note to self: Do not apply ANYTHING with lambswool, unless the shag-pile look is the aim!

Unless you put it in a cloth? I used to do this for french polishing. I would wash the wool, then tease it out until fluffy and put it into a old white t-shirt. you dip it or dampen it then you put it in the t-shirt making a ball and apply it that way. you only get the hairs on your finger tips form dipping.

Well done Brian, looking good.

Thanx guys. Not as clean and tidy as some I see here, but it is what it is, and it should last him until he out grows it.

He did like it, or so he said, but the microscope kit was better! :)
