Members stormdevil Posted January 9, 2019 Members Report Posted January 9, 2019 Here's the first knife sheath that I've designed and made. I'm really chuffed that it turned out well. Many thanks to Ian Atkinson of Leodis Leather for his videos - especially the one: Designing and Making a Ka-Bar Sheath - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkMSlgR-Yks If I hadn't watched that I'd have got the 3D aspect of the sheath wrong as this knife has an especially large guard. The video has 7 different ways for how to handle the "thickness" of the knife and guard. I used the "ramps" method (Method 2) to pack out the sheath to accommodate the knife. Quote
Members kiwican Posted January 9, 2019 Members Report Posted January 9, 2019 I'm sorry. But you broke the rule. Which is, any knife sheath shown must also be displayed with the sheath!. Nice job! Quote
Members VYO Posted January 9, 2019 Members Report Posted January 9, 2019 That is a very nice looking sheath! Quote

Nice job! He means we have to see the knife. Unofficial rule, not to be broken. Fantastic sheath for first one! Jeff Quote

Members battlemunky Posted January 16, 2019 Members Report Posted January 16, 2019 Now we're talking. It's kinda funny without the knife laid out next to the sheath how the sheath never really comes into focus. Looks great. I'm a huge fan of Ian Atkinson as well. I've learned a ton from his videos. Members Carnivore Posted January 17, 2019 Members Report Posted January 17, 2019 Interesting design, are the side separate with a spline on both sides? It looks like that might be easier than rolling it over from one piece.. Quote
Members Eddie Q Posted January 17, 2019 Members Report Posted January 17, 2019 Man, that sheath sure came out awesome and the knife looks just at home. Quote

That's one of the things you get from the Ian Atkinson video. Quote
