Went to buy an embosser, ended up with a few items....

We went to check out buying a NIB Tandy pro Embosser as posted in the linked thread, ended up with...a few more items than anticipated. The fellow said he had "a few stamps" and various tools, he gave us a price we couldn't refuse and we ended up buying everything.

 

First up was this hand cranked singer, not sure much about it as it's a bit smaller than we use but it was an all or nothing deal

 

Then a cool CN bag that was full of conchos ((so...many...concho's), rivets galore, snaps, belt buckles, hat band kits, just everything a person could imagine.

And of course the Embosser we went to look at, he figured he had about 5 rolls for it, nope, 13! So Embosser, 13 rolls, all the spacers, the works

Two snap presses with every size of setter made, including spiked concho's, double cap rivets, single cap, bunch I have no idea what they are or do, as well as a brand new in box stitching pony, never used or even taken out of the package. As well as the large press for stamps, and adapters to use all the stamps in the press, the handle on it's ridiculous, some serious pressure can be applied with that puppy.

He did say he had a few stamps. Well I think I have every stamp tandy sold now. More pictures to follow as I've hit the attachment limit in this post.

The strap end punches that we got are really nice. I have a few of the newest Tandy pro serious one's and they are not nearly as hefty or nice as these ones. Also a whole box of dies, paints, and rolls of leather and scraps of leather (not pictured) that were included. Edge roller painter thing, oblong punches, button hole punchs, maul's, skivers, knives (all 3 knives, medium round knife, Japanese style and french style are new, never used). Neatsfoot oil, bone folders, and a whole swack-o-craftool stamps I didn't take pictures of (handfuls) as I couldn't find the room on the workbench to lay them all out on.

Oh, and the embosser works great. The only tough part is making sure the leather is centered and feeds freely, here's a scrap of raw and an already dyed end cutoff I ran through just as a test.

So, if you don't mind me asking, what did you wind up spending?

Since I had a difficult time searching and finding the kind of results one can expect from a Tandy Pro Embosser 3900-00, I figured I'd upload some pictures of a few test pieces we ran through while figuring out the machine.  machine wasn't even bolted to the bench yet so results will defiantly improve once that's done. Note these are just tests on belt ends that I've cut off when sizing belts, so most pieces are dyed (ie, I didn't case them properly to take an impression, yet the detail is still outstanding) and sealed with atom wax which makes wetting impossible for the most part, also edges aren't finished and we didn't have them quite lined up every time. Even still the detail on the "wildlife" roll is amazing (probably not a pattern one would dye black, but I was using what was in the scrap bin  ):

 

Got the basket-weave darn near perfectly aligned, the detail is better than it looks, the shiny black makes for hard picture taking, note the left side of the picture the pattern runs off a bit? That's because the hand crank is tensioned by some spring washers, and they were not tightened out of the box, after tightening, the handle (and thus the roll) no longer moves side to side, so the pattern placement is more consistent now that we discovered that little tidbit:

 

This one's labeled "Tri-Weave", not my thing at all but it was included so figured I'd give it a run:

Celtic (this one was not lined up at all, I switched from a 1-1/2" to the 3/4" without re-adjusting):

Again this was amateur hour at it's finest, results will only get better on properly cased leather and when the machine is firmly bolted to a workbench. Very happy with the results thus-far.

And a better shot of the horse/floral and I forget what the other pattern was called. The horse is again not my thing, but the detail is very nice, this one I sprayed down lightly before running through, it was the first one we tried so I had no idea how the bushings were supposed to be setup, hence it's a bit off center.

 

 

I thought this pattern wasn't that nice until it was rolled out on the leather, now I kinda like it:

 

All in all, I'm really happy with the machine, I was very hesitant to pick it up since it seems everybody stopped making them, and I wasn't exactly sure why. If I can get this thing setup and running in 30min out of the box, I'm sure anyone can. Now off the the hardware store to find some bolts and get some real leather straps cased, and run through!

Clamped to the bench, and properly wet leather makes a big difference. Here's some shots of some of the other (and a few of the same) on raw veg tan with proper wetting and adjustment, now we're cooking with gasoline!

So there's a really thin barb wire roll, this is a pass on each side, one side with medium pressure, the other with much more (too much I think)

 

An unofficial unlicensed motorbike company perhaps?  For some reason there's a double roll (ie, I have two identical ones of this one) if anyone's looking to trade.

I'm not even sure, really not. Religious or just a unique pattern?

Also included with the purchase was two huge slabs of Granite, couldn't get a picture until now since they were so heavy I coudn't get them out of the car without help. Put one on one of my workbenches, and it darn near fit perfectly! Unsure what I'll do with the other slab, maybe donate it to a local leatherworker, pass it on as they say.

Those photos are jaw-dropping stuff!!! It looks like you bought out a small shop! In your position I would have done the same thing and taken the lot.

I rather like the oak leaves/acorns and the celtic pattern (I'm not one for geometric patterns on leather, just doesn't look right). You've got many, many hours ahead of you sorting stuff out. Well done.

Yeah, sorting and organizing is taking a while, I haven't really gotten into tooling yet, but when I do...

 

the snap/rivet setters I'm not sure what they are all for, there's 13 or 14 sets, must have labels on the bags, 6 do not. I hope to post some pictures of them and see if anyone can tell me which pair with which and what they are for.

Here's some of the die's I'm not sure about. I think #1 is for spiked collar things, it's spring loaded, but I'm not sure which bottom it belongs to. Anyone can identify any of these and tell me which pairs with with and what they are intended for you'll save me a great deal of experimenting  if not, I'll start going through the hardware and seeing what fits what.

These are neat (ran out of attachment space on the other posts). Next up is the 10.5'lb (yes, I weighed it) of buckles, but that will have to wait for another night, have to find some bins, pegboard, or something to get all these organized. There were keychain rings, small medium and large spring snaps for dog collars, and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff mixed in but I won't bore with all that.
