Fonzarellis Report post Posted March 4, 2020 (edited) Tweaked the pattern here and there, changed the flowers and decided to try some blue dye and British Tan highlight paste. Turned out not to be a bad combination. Just need to finish the blue dy on the rest of the background. Oxbo Report post Posted March 13, 2020 Beautiful, I'm working on something similar with a wallet ... The flowers (on mine) are awful small, hope I can make em come out good ....
Fonzarellis Report post Posted March 14, 2020 Thanks. When I do small stuff I don't cut quite so deep. Also steep revelers are your friend. Sometimes less really is more.
JayEhl Report post Posted March 18, 2020 Wow this looks super duper great! I have a question about your dye process, if you're willing to help out a noob. I'm guessing you dyed the whole thing and then applied a resist and then did the British Tab antique paste? or did you dye just the outer part and protect your carving as a separate step? Hope I made sense. Thanks in advance. ~JL
Fonzarellis Report post Posted March 18, 2020 Dye will go thru just about anything so it doesn't really matter the order as long as the paste is last.
battlemunky Report post Posted March 18, 2020 I really like your flowers and how they almost wilt. That color contrast is really nice!

I have a scrap ton of flower designs I've collected over the past few years. Glad you like em but I have to confess they are not "mine".
pete Report post Posted March 20, 2020 what dye did you use, and did you dilute it at all? Just did a belt with Pro oil dye Royal Blue and it came out soooo dark after 1 coat of non-diuted. Did a test first with diluted and it was so faint that it didn't work for me. love to hear back pete
Fonzarellis Report post Posted March 21, 2020 Yeah it is very dark but looked a little better after finish was applied. I used it straight from the bottle.
