Another custom Aidan satchel heading out today. All hand dyed full grain veg tan, hand tooled Callahan crest, inner pockets for a tablet and other essentials, sized to fit a 15” laptop. I’m having a hard time letting this one go.

Really nice case!  Looks like you airbrushed the dark edges?

Thanks! Not airbrushed, I use a sponge antiquing method.

Capital!

Love the tooling: it's neat to see something other than the floral carving whose ubiquitousness has made it boring.

Thank you all! I’ve got another crest in the works now and I can’t wait for you to see it. I love doing these types of things. Sculpting the mantle is a lot of fun.

Hi,

Such astonishing work.   I noticed the fonts on the initials were unique.  Was that a special stamp set or did you make your own?

Thank you! I had a brass stamp set made in that font. It’s called Uncial Antiqua.

Thanks! I have about 15 hours in the tooling. Probably another 15 to make the bag.

The dye work on the crest is spectacular. How do you go about applying dye like this? Or was acrylic used in places? Fantastic work, thanks for sharing.

Thanks a lot! Full disclosure: I just used my iPhone 7+ and a little processing in Photoshop.

Thank you! The color is a combination of leather dyes brushed on and some very fine point Sharpies. There’s three different greens in the tree. The helm is diluted black dye, the mantle has diluted green dye as well as the grass.

Thank you! Do you mean the initials on the back tab? Yes, I had a letter and number set made in that font years ago.
