Singer Identification

Hey folks, 

I’ve been cleaning up my great grandma’s old Singer foot pedal machine. I’ve had some trouble identifying its model and wondered if anyone may know more than me. 
I’ve also been testing it out on leathers and have found that despite adjusting tensions, I can’t quite get the stitch to lock. I’ve looked at possibly attaching an electric motor to the wheel. Is there a way to convert this type of Singer to sew leathers? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

It's a domestic sewing machine. It might sew thin garment leather but that would be its limit, it's simply not designed to sew leather.

I think it is a model 128

I think Bob may be right, I feel it's a 128.

I have a 31K20 made in 1909 and it does not look like this one.

I think the Serial is JC 404255 I cannot find a listing for JC on ISMACS

I found a listing for JC serials on Google and it took me to a domestic listing.

I am bluffing a Singer 127 - if the bed is about 14.5" ,  If a bunch smaller then the 128. My Singer database on my android phone say 1948 for JC with no further details.

I think you're right too - it's a 127.  Here's a photo of ours (made in Elizabethport, US in 1919).  We've got harness machines and Singer 29s and agree that this little 127 is not going to be able to cope with too much heavy duty stuff!  However, she does sew beautifully.
