Trying to convert singer 45k76 to self feeding sewing machine

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to convert a singer 45k76 darning machine to a self feeding sewing machine and as far as I can tell all holes are in place drilled and tapping. I was diagnosed with complex ptsd and I'm on a fixed income so I really need the cheapest place to get part. I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

You may well find that the price for these obsolete parts required will cost far more than buying another machine. and spend months finding the parts if at all

The model 45 is popular with leather workers, so i doubt many spares will be available, but most will have been horded for the future when or if needed

I´m not sure if dedicated darning machines have the drive shaft for the feeding mechanism. Maybe you can post some good clear pictures of your machine from all side and with removed shuttle hook and needle plate and from the underside of the machine. So we can try to figure if it is possible at all.

The only way to get all the parts you will need is from another machine Singer has discontinued them a long time ago.I've done them  using parts from broken machines & transferring parts but it is alot of work.

Hi, Bow, I've been looking at my own complex PTSD and have spotted a pattern in healing techniques. I'm not qualified, but it's making sense to the pros.

Your best bet might be to try to sell the feedless machine as a darning machine to somebody who can use it to darn things. It might also be of use to an embroidery shop for freehand embroidery with thick thread.
