DJole Report post Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) A commemorative gift for my nephew, as he starts medical school this fall. I mixed Angelus blue and purple to get this color, and that's a rare appearance of Fiebing's white dye in the reverse carved design. The design is from the flag of Sendai, Japan (near where he lived for a couple years.) The thread is burgundy Tiger (.6 thickness) using 3mm stitching chisels. I used my pebble backgrounder (Craftool M 892) to add texture, except just around the design. The outside leather here is about 2-3 mm thick. Inside leather is 1 mm. Edges burnished with black Tokonole. Edited June 9, 2021 by DJole
DJole Report post Posted June 9, 2021 (edited) Here's the inside. Very thin leather for the inside pockets! Traditional Japanese motif in the middle there. There are 6 pockets in this thing! That's a fair number of cards... Inside edges (a three layer sandwich!) sanded then painted with Fiebing's black EdgeKote. I have this on my desk at the moment, and I keep looking at it and thinking, "Hey, that's a pretty decent job! Looks nice!" JayEhl Report post Posted June 9, 2021 I like your design on both sides of the stitch line. It adds a bit of something for the eyes to enjoy. I think your nephew will really like it. And you should be proud of your work. Well done!
AzShooter Report post Posted June 24, 2021 Wonderful design. I like the color and the art work a lot. Now I see how to get more cards in the holder. I've been looking for designs and if you don't mind I'd like to copy yours.

Tugadude Report post Posted June 25, 2021 The funny thing about wallets to me is just when I think I've seen every possible configuration, a new one suddenly appears. And that's the case here. When I saw the picture with the stitching line on the fold I was puzzled, but then I saw why it was there and I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Very creative and nicely executed.
