First attempt at carving a dog. My daughter was happy with it. Back to more practicing.

Very nice. I used to keep a "Dog Log" when I was running my sled team. I never thought of one of those. But training sled dogs doesn't leave much time for anything else.

Thanks Hardrada, I wish I had smoothed out my beveling around the head a little more. I thought I had it faded out good until I stained it, then my mistakes showed up. Lol. Oh well, at least it wasn't for a paying customer. Lol

Thanks tsunkasapa. My daughter started raising and selling golden retrievers, she uses it a lot.

Beautiful work.  Always fun jumping on here and seeing talents and abilities put to work.  Any daughter would be proud of that fine piece of craftsmanship, 'specially since its from Dad. Thanks everyone.  Hasbeenciwboy, I don't think so, I'll have to ask. The dog loves to retrieve anything you throw, especially tennis balls.

Didn't notice it until you brought it up.   Looks great and I like the simple borders.   Really great job.  And like @Hardrada  said, I wished all my first attempts were as beautiful as this!
