This was my first attempt about a year ago

I'm torn i like em both even though the second is much better built!! now you have one for town and one for fishin.

Worked in a prison for 30 years if I aint shiny every time I comment its no big deal, I just don't wave pompoms.

My main hat looks like the one in your first picture but I want to make one like your second picture

I bought a pattern from dieselpunk for an 'Indiana Jones Style' hat a few years ago

 

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..

That is what this pattern is.  the size runs a little small so if your melon is a pattern large make an  x- large  

This was a test run. and  is my hat.  i plan on making hats to sell using 5oz veg tan 

the brim has a wire sewn in it to help hold shape

I did that one Fred. It's a bit discoloured now. Might have to dye it.

Ive been wanting to make me a leather hat for awhile i just havent done it yet. I keep thinking it would be a very hot wearing hat. How do they feel and wear on hot days. I would add a couple grommets to the sides to help with a little air flow. But it doesnt hurt to hear some feedback from guys who have made and worn leather hats. Thank you guys.

Yea their definitely a fall or winter hat, hot in the summer for sure:yes:
