Mocivnik Report post Posted February 18, 2022 Well, purpose is different, but the design remains same: I'd like to make an ammo pouch for slingshot bullets but the design I'd like to keep as from American Civil War lead balls. My slingshot ammo are actually balls from bearings dimensions either 3/8" or 1/2" (10-12mm). Has anyone ever done something as such and maybe have a pattern for it? (just a thought: if this ammo pouch would have somekind of attachmend to hold slingshot aswell, it would be more than perfect)

tsunkasapa Report post Posted February 18, 2022 I make these to put muzzleloader ammo in. This one is for .45 cal, but they can be made for any size. We put these in our shooting bags, but you can add a wing at the neck for a thong to tie to your belt. Cut out the two pieces, sew them up, soak them for 15-25 seconds then pack with unpopped popcorn or sand. Empty it out and let dry. It takes longer to dry than it takes to make. But i would go with the shot pouch pictured above too. it could be carried by a strap or around your neck. Here is the pattern pack i meant to show you three different patterns hope it helps.https://tandyleather.com/blogs/leathercraft-library/black-powder-bags-and-pouches-1966 Edited February 18, 2022 by chuck123wapati

Eldon Austin Report post Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) I Have one similar to this one with the difference being Mine is done with One piece folded over and stitched but still has the wood insert and plug and comes with a extra piece stitched in for hanging. DaleksInc Report post Posted November 7 Look into Civil War cap boxes and pistol boxes. That said, you probably won't need a pattern; they're essentially just a basic belt-mounted box with a flap lid. The main difference is the addition of either a second, smaller flap or a piece of shearling (in some cap boxes) to keep the contents from spilling. If you have FreeCAD, I have a pattern I can send you; it's for a belt-mounted glasses case, but the design is similar to that of a pistol (just using saddle-stitched gussets instead of box-stitch.) You'd just need to add something to prevent the shot from spilling as you run around.

Yes it fits on a belt. The photo on step 2 of the ammo pouch pattern shows quite clearly the belt loops. It's also a very simple matter to add a belt loop(s) to any pouch. DieselTech Report post Posted November 7 (edited) Look at this design. This is what I would want for a sling shot pouch. I wish I new what they called the hinged hardware that is spring loaded to keep the pouch open or closed. I also included a pic of the hardware for the opening.
