Guys & gals I pulled the trigger on a few Barry King stamp tools. Man them suckers make a guy cry. But they supposedly some of the best made. I ordered the Barry King #2 lattice basketweave stamp & I'm curious if any of you guys & gals got 1 & use it. How does the stamping look? What's the pattern look like when its dyed? Or is it best to leave it natural or apply a antique type gel on it? Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.

Hi everyone. Does anybody know where I can get a fairly inexpensive pebbler background stamp? I know Tandy doesn't carry it with craftool. I'd like to get one online. Thanks, Chris

Bill asked me to post this little deal on stamping a rope border. I whacked this out in a couple minutes one morning. I do a lot of western things, and this rope is my most requested border. This is all done with Tandy stamps. I used the #957 rope stamp and a modified #803 beveler. I took a small circular stone on the Dremel and ground out a curve on the toe of the stamp to fit the curve of the rope border. Takes about a minute. I have attached an impression of each stamp, the linear pattern and then how I handle corners. It is pretty self explanatory. Any questions. fire away!

Greetings All Lay out your pattern. [photo 1] Cut the outside of the tooling pattern, then I put in a beader blade, cut that inside border. Find the center of your tooling piece and mark the center [outside of the tooling piece] Place ruler /straight edge on center line and weight it down. Basket stamp of your choice, lightly tap first impression [to get angle of arrow, you'll just have to play with the 1st angle after that, it usually self aligns ] [photo #2] Lightly stamp tool impressions using the straight edge for guide. [GO WITH DIRECTION OF ARROW] Take away ruler/ straight edge and strike impressions. [GO WITH DIRECTION OF ARROW] [photo #3] Turn piece…

I'll try and explain this to the best of my ability. Lay out your first border. Make sure you cut deep with a swivel knife as this border needs to set deep in a cut, not a groove, so do not use a groover for this. From your first border cut, then scribe your inside line and cut that as well. Make sure you test on scrap as far as the distance to get the spacing you prefer. I always start on the inside corners and work my way to the middle. This way you can alter the tool distance to make sure you come out even on the intial spacing. I then go all of the way around the inside border and finish it up. Always slightly over lap the tool initially until you find the last few s…

Just beginning to try my hand at stamping and also want to get into some carving along the way. I expect that I will destroy a good bit of practice leather along the way. I have a fair amount of 6/7 oz. veg tan to use for that practice. But I am really getting annoyed with my early attempts at this. It seems that nothing wants to go well for me. A list of questions/problems/issues: 1. In spite of reading tutorials from here on casing leather I can't seem to get it right. The leather always seems to be too wet or too dry when I make my stamping efforts. I can't seem to time it right. And the leather doesn't seem to dry evenly after wetting. The leather is soaked compl…

I am having stamping frustrations lately. I feel like i am BEATING by stamp hard and still not getting a deep impression. Is it a leather issue? I use herman oak, so I would like to think not. Is it a casing issue? Junk stamps? I whack that stamp several times hard and still dont get an impression i am pleased with.
