I was just thinking aloud and wondered if anyone who uses letter stamps knows what font they have on their sets.

Am I crazy or is $40 for a James Linnell 1/2" stamp seem a bit steep for a single stamp? I thought Tandy was bad at $27 for their top of the line stamps... Is there an alternative source for the dragon scale patterns? If I were to spend that much on a single stamp, I would end up stamping EVERYTHING with it to justify the cost... LOL

I've seen some borders done with a Tandy Border Stamp (D445 Craftool Border Stamp). Does anyone have any how to pictures of how to lay this out to get nice even borders. I think the pattern I'm referring to is called the "Meandering Stamp". It looks like it curves back and forth kinda like a snake around the edge. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/home/department/Leather-Stamps/Border-Leather-Stamps/6445-00.aspx The other question I have is on using a basket weave stamp on a belt that looks like an arrow head design down the middle. I can get the look by putting the basket weave on an angle, but it's hard to get the proper spacing without knowing how it should be …

I am doing a belt and I want to get the letters darker than my dye I am using. I have only stamped a couple of times all my stuff is plain (no tooling) minimal stamping. The customer wants the letters to be darker. The example they gave me is attached. I have practice using a dark brown dye but it just looks a little browner. I have also used a highlighter but only minimal results. Any suggestions or tips. This is really my first time doing this kind of stamping. Pat

Hello all, I am working on a Bible cover, and want to use a meander stamp for the borders. I think I have figured out how to run the stamp, but I am confused on how to make a corner. The corners are not radiused. The stamp is a craftool D4779. I could possibly make some sort of corner decoration and end the stamp there, but i'm not sure what to use. Could anyone post some ideas, or better yet, some photos of how you do this? Thanks for your help.

I'm starting to be interested in doing some stamping. I briefly looked at the stamps when I was in the Tandy store the other day and there must be 200 different stamps available just from Tandy. Unlike most new leather crafters, I'm not independently wealthy. But as I look at the various videos on stamping, there seems to be a handful of stamps that a lot of people are using for the majority of their stamping, a beveler, a veiner, a camouflage tool and a pear shader. What do you feel are must have stamps that every leatherworker should have in their tool roll? Could be that

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to stamp a soft leather and what tools that I would need. I have seen it done before but when I tried at home I couldn't seem to get it to work or leave deep enough impression. Thanks in advance! -ReginainBohemia

I saw a guy on you-tube do this and it turns out pretty good if you are looking for a ribbon border or such .
